I am curious (ha, ha)--what protection is provided by not accepting blocked calls?

For me, if the guy says something rude or threatening... 9 times out of 10 I can remember to write that # down so I don't answer the phone to give the creep a chance to harass me again.

For me, private and blocked calls are usually from guys who have an agenda.  I have answered blocked calls in the past and I stopped when I realized that 90% of them were guys seeking phone sex, prank calls, or threats.  Now, I just don't answer those calls--if the guy is serious, he will leave a callback number.

It is such an invasion, I prefer to deal with e-mails. It prevents the type of phone calls mentioned earlier, a stalker, solicitors, creditors, or a phone call from your SO. Usually if the call is blocked, there is a reason, and I don't want a part of it.

my website states, "prefer emails", at least with initial contact. After that, phone calls are okay if I know the gentleman and he is polite. I just don't have time to chat all day on the telephone, and I'm not a phone person anyway.

Hugs,
Ciara

Raises an interesting point.  The rest of the country loves caller ID and only freaks get blocking- like a really low percentage.

In CA?  HUGE percentage of blocks. Over 50%- phone companies put it down to Californians distrusting any authority.

I was in a focus group on this while they cast around to figure it out and sell the services in CA.

An unblocked call gives the receiver a feeling of security about the caller.

I agree as well. If someone can't at least call from a cell phone, I don't bother and when I do answer it's usually a waste of time. I guess they are concerned that a girl will miss their call and call the # back? It's probably happened but I don't have the time to call back numbers of guys who leave no voicemail message. Plus we get alot of calls on our phones if our number is posted as mine is. If the number calling me is private, I try to ignore it.
