A question about "donations".....teeth_smile

In most providers' websites where the donation amount is listed....an example is "300 roses for one hour" etc.  Has anyone ever taken this literally and shown up with 300 roses?  That would be hilarious!  In that case, the provider really shouldn't be upset because the hobbyist followed instructions to the T.  I hope this has happened....it would be so funny.

buying 300 roses is a lot more expensive than $300.  Duh.

BUT if the ad doessn't specify "live" or "fresh" roses, maybe not so much?

Not unless you go to LA Flower District....LOL

The only catch you have to go there early. Some of the wholesalers open at 2:00 AM and others at 4:00 AM. I once bought 999 roses for less than $500.

I saw a bulk rose distributer $6 bucks a dozen

That would be $150..

When I see that sign ever few days I have thought about just what was mentioned here..

that really would be hilarious, tho maybe not so much for the provider. ;)

personally i've never understood the whole flowers/roses/kisses thing in reference to the donation. what's wrong with just saying 300/hr? it ain't that complicated folks.

ok, this is a little bit related, when I was a kid and it was my moms birthday, I snagged some ( what i thought were perfectly good roses) and there were hundreds of them on a grave,
you know what tho, she took one look at them, sniffed them and said, these smell like death,  I was amazed, thinking how could she have known that as I sniffed them, and they only smelled like roses to me? ( I was 12 yrs old)

or you wouldn't be suggesting the substitution.  Last time I bought roses, they were about $4.00 apiece.

Well some women have taken to saying things like "300 kisses" or "300 sparkles"

So I would be curious about her reaction if a fellow showed up, smooched her 300 times on the cheeks, and then said "Ok honey, I got the donaion part out of the way, now lets get freaky"

Better yet.....shows up with 300 hershey's kisses.

Hah!

On CL, I've seen some women say:

300 diamonds
300 balloons
300 reasons
300 cookies

Why don't they just say "$300?

...For the same reasons that they think the standard disclaimer "Any money exchanged is for time and not for anything else..... etc..." will protect them.

In fact there was one article in a local paper a few years ago which quoted a cop saying something to the effect:

"We had to figure out that 150 roses meant 150 dollars"...

Wow, they sometimes are not at the deep end of the gene pool are they???

Does that disclaimer have any legal effect?  There's no such thing as paying for anyone's time.  No "legitimate" business ever says anything like that.  It's specific acts, paid for per unit of time, not just time, that is paid for.

I hate all those stupid euphemisms for $$ too like roses, hugs, kisses, pencils, smiles, etc.  I'd laugh like there was no tomorrow if someone actually showed up with a fistful of "insert stupid euphemism here".

That lingo is all started on Craigslist. When I see a girl on TER or elsewhere using that lingo it's a dead giveaway that she's a born and bred CL girl that has discovered existence of the hobby outside of CL. (Which means I'm far less likely to consider setting an appt with her).

This reminds me of my very first appointment.

"So, how many roses is it going to be?" He says.

I say, "You're going to bring me flowers?"

He says, "Well I just want to know how many you want."

"I don't want any flowers. All you need to bring is $300, but if you wanna bring me roses too that's up to you but 300 seems a bit excessive." I tell him.

"Okay, uh.....well $300 it is then."

Oh my oh my what 18 months in the business will teach you.

Good times, good times.

Funny you should write about this..a while back a provider friend called me..she had posted on craigslist her rate was 100 evelopes..do u know this man comes to the door with a box of nothing else but evelopes...I liked to had passed out when she told me this..

mmmmmm . . well that would require a below 105 IQ which might be dangerous. Those same people might believe the woman actually cares or loves them ... I appreciate the attempt at humor, I guess.

you get them into the envelope? I thought about it one time and quickly discounted the idea as being uneconomical. At the price of a rose yesterday, it would be CDN$3,000 plus 14% in tax. A CDN dollar is > than a US dollar in value.
