how the internet's changing the business?

Saw a well known provider recently, had been seeing her ads and reading her reviews for maybe a year now.  There had been some fluf about her being a man, and a few dustups regarding her service; but it was payday and I was horny, so after going down a list of options, saw she was offering a special, so I called and ended up being The Last Man Standing for the day.

As the sun was coming up, we got talking about why I was there, her special, TER, ads, craigslist, the business in foreign countries, and how the internet has changed it all.  Seems she'd been in town for a week or so with no action, then when she dropped her prices, voila, instant bing bang boom.

Being with a prostitute she said should be a once a month, or maybe twice a month thing.  A special event with an experienced/talented person, not a regular thing.  Blue colar workers in her humble opinion should spend up to $$$ for an hour.

Got me thinking, and I know this has been said before here, but wanted to bring it up again, see what y'all thought.  There are so many more ladies posting now: college girls looking for that extra book money, street girls being distributed from the local library, moms and grandmas supplementing their grocery money -- all without having to hassle with a website, a hardcopy ad with photos, or a pimp!  They just post a phone number on a website, and voila.  By sheer number and by offering a lower than market value experience, they flood out the higher priced traditional escorts.

The lady I ended up seeing ends up having no business until she lowers herself below or at the going rate.  She's talking about leaving the business all together.  The guys she ends up seeing are just there for the special 'price' (not the 'special experience').

I know this happens to traveling ladies, they come out with appointments only to find that Suzy Q newbie and her 20 Friends are offering specials that day.  So instead of quality once a month, there is quantity for a mouthful monthful.  I'm seeing escorts 3 to 4 times a month and I'm liking it but hate seeing quality ladies leaving the business.  Does this mean I'm not a quality person myself, any longer?  the adverbs are changing.  What do y'all think/feel?

the price of tea in china.  the boston tea party.  tea for two and two for tea.

You stated that there have been concerns about whether she was a man and about her service. I think those have more to do with her plight than her price. There are ladies charging a couple of grand or more in this business that get all the booking that they can handle. There are some charging $400-$1000 per hour that get booked up solid when they announce a visit. The issue is about quality sessions, the providers that offer them on a consistent basis do not have issues getting and retaining clients.
If anything, her plight should serve as a lesson to new providers that are entering the business. Give so-so service and you can one day expect to end up only with sweaty guys that come to you to bang out a load and want to pay as little as possible for the privilege.

Also if sh runs specials alot, many men that want to see her, might just be waiting, because they know that if they wait, she will run a special. Thats the problem with specials.
If a guy can get the same service from the same lady at a lower rate, thats just being smart with his money.
Is it fair? not at all. But thats what happenes in the "specials trap"
I think that running specials is a bad idea for the reasons stated. You should stick to your rate and stay at it. If a gentlemen wants to see you, they will do it.
Decide your worth and stick to your guns. Some times it may be slow, but eventually it will all even out.

giving the ladies a cost-effective opportunity to advertize in addition to giving them a forum (i.e. this board) a chance to show us guys something about what makes them tick.  I have dated three such ladies with whom I was firt attracted to by reading their posts.  Several more are "booked marked" for future exploration.

Guys have benefited enormously by the reviews, both the photos (assuming they are accurate) and the information.  All it takes is some research and you shouldn't get burned by poor performance.  Sometimes we "take one for the team" and hit a homerun; other times it might only be a single.

I think the internet has changed the business for the better.  I have better luck visiting providers that advertise on the web than in the local "alternative" weekly paper.
I like having a litte advance information on what to expect before visiting someone.
If providers are concerned about bad reviews etc, they should look at their level of service and price and then adjust accordingly.

Being an old time UTR girl from way back.. No advertising ,no nothing.. you were elite to a certain group of men.. traveling marketing groups, traveling men.. that let the word out by mouth only. "pssst, call so and so in Buffalo, give her the password "

That's how it was BEFORE the internet.

The internet exploded.

Its ruined the business in all honesty. Now we have to search emails for some sign of ellie, we cant answer questions in fear of them, we cant breathe in fear of them,we only see respected board members in fear of them..how do we know their atf didnt get busted last week? and hes working for them (paranoia? Yes, Reality, Yes ) It all balances out.  We can't post on certain boards because they are reading it. Dont use this email server because "they: can get into that.. Guess what? They can get into everything if you have a working hard drive(cl post from netmichele), only way you are safe.. is to  buy disposable computer and throw it away every week.Put in a new hard drive everyday.

Then we have to search for catty providers trying to hijack tours, hobbyists playing games because their favorite girl asked them too. This apparently will get the girl to quit and not ever come to your city again. My answer to that is.  Have some money put away for a rainy month when it is a little slow.Get a job if you are that bad off and are penniless in this business.  No girl should be. If you are doing this,You don't belong in this business. Most often these are young girls doing this, or girls only in the business for a year or so. They got a 9 or a 10. Now they are queens. *rolls eyes*

The blocked caller, we had no problems answering their questions before the day of caller id, and we simply couldnt see ANY NUMBER AT ALL,now all of a sudden, its LE if they call, or they have some motive for blocking it.

Has anyone noticed we spend more time talking about ellie in the past months than anything else..

Here's a tip.. if anyone is afraid , dont dabble in illegal activity. Its really quite that simple. If anyone is afraid of STD's, dont have sex. WITH ANYONE.. civvies or providers alike.

Is ellie hurting our business? No,cause guess what. Here you are reading my post and this entire thread. (and they, or any agency, your isp, and the little internet police inside your monitor are going to come and get you :) )  Is it hurting girls business sense. Yes.(recent post somewhere about answering service at BDJ and her being a bitch.)

Girls fighting in over populated cities with a flooded market of girls, agencies, touring girls. How many men do these cities have ? Let's do the ratio and remember how silly you look fighting to outsiders. Men can have drama at home. It's why they seek US. They dont need or want it here.

In conclusion, this is how the internet has hurt the business. Anyone want an oral presentation? ;)

Will I go UTR again, hell no, I like a challenge;)

No offense here at all.  I think Ellie is just changing how they do their biz. Look at it like radar detectors.  Their use by motorists caused police to alter their enforcement and tactics.  You will see more and more of their activity on these boards as time goes on.  I think it would simply be a no-brainer to sting a bunch of hobbyists with a little advertising $$ and a lot of "geek" work.  Even if a two-bit lawyer could prove entrapment, how many of these guys would roll over and divulge any info whatsoever just to remove themselves from the case?  Everyone just has to be careful and use their head (the one on the shoulders).

BTW, Ciara, how about a trip to MPLS so we can test drive a half-gallon of Canola Oil?

What does UTR mean?  Unable To Reach?  I thought I knew a lot of the acronyms.  Then, you hit me with BDJ, too.  Is this going to be on the test?

I hadn't thought of the internet as spoiling this business.  Though, it's definitely higher stress.  All I've known of the business, pretty much, has been through the net.

Yes, right now, in this environment, the threat of ellie is a major portion of the stress.  You realize that like an SW and their john, you're pretty much doing things in public.

I'm hoping this is a stage, and that ultimately, the undercurrent of hedonism will win out over the repressive puritanism.

UTR- under the radar..- one whom doesnt advertise

Im all for Hedonism ;)

and...belle de jour. (was referring to a recent post on another city board was all)

Well said.  Also, there is no need to apologize if someone is offended by what you feel on this topic.  I think this is one of the problems, everyone is too sensitive or politically correct.  It is your opinion and if someone is offended that is their problem, not yours.

I have been on this board for a few months, and often see very informative resposes from you and many other regulars here.

Keep doing what you are doing. All the best!

Since when is BETH (Suzy Q)back in business? (Her old stage name when she was a model)

I loved your post Ciara.  You point out, quite rightly, that in an environemnt of scarcity, the established entities thrive.  Exclusivity is the friend of the service provider.

The internet is nothing if not egalitarian (so very French, non?).  Naturally, this ruins it for those elite who previously could only gain access.

My favorite new sob story is an SP I met in chat recently who would only do overnighters.  She scoffed at my suggestion of "only" a 2 hr minimum.  Fair enough.  But lo and behold, whom did I see this weekend on CL, of all places, advertising HOURLY rates?  Hah!

So, the next time a guy inquires if the terms are non-negotiable, please remember what Ciara wrote, and what this SP did this past weekend.  You sure don't have to see him/me/us, but don't take offense.

I've only been in this business for a little more than a couple of years, so I don't know what it was like before the internet came along and changed things.  One thing I know for sure is that I would never have considered becoming an escort if it involved street walking, ads in local rags and trolling bars for business.  Mark Turkel, an attorney who has devoted his law practice to the adult entertainment industry, wrote an article on his website entitled, 'The Shy Girl's Guide to Becoming an Escort'.  The concept of this article is that any lady, if she so chooses, can be a successful escort while conducting her business entirely over the internet.  I did what he said and here I am today!

I would think that the result of the internet explosion would be that the escort profession might attract a smarter, better class of lady when it becomes clear that she will be able to conduct her business entirely on the internet and won’t need to resort to any of the risky behaviors mentioned above to attract clients.

Yes.. before there was the internet there was all of that. however.. there were UTR girls as well.. that either worked for traveling business men from any one company- or 3 or 4... or even housewives or single wives that did it on their own without advertsing in local " rags" ...
