I almost never do it, but today I searched the CraigsList erotic w4m ads. What is even odder is that I called one! The picteure was ...well I called.
When the woman answered I asked if it was Betty (The fistional womans name I always use here). She said "yes".
Her voice seemed a bit reserved but I stated that I was calling about her ad.
"I placed no ad!" And she begin crying. "You are like the tenth guy to call me in the last hour! How did you get my name and number?"
So I explained the CL ad blah blah blah. She continues to weep and is terribly distraught. I tell her to calm down blah blah.
Well it seems some guy has a crush and she told him she did not wish to date him" "I get even with you..." he says. And this seems to be it.
So I flag the ad, search the phone number and find another and flag it for her. We talk a bit and I send CL an email for her complaining of harrassment and link to the 2 posts.
I tell her not to answer her phone for a day or two and it will probably go away. But this is the phone she uses for business and she just had an ad come out today to sell her car. I still advice her to not answer today and run another ad after the calls stop.
We end up talking for about 20 minutes until she has calmed down and even managed a slight laugh at my bad humor.
I call her back a couple hours later expecting to get her voice-mail so I could leave her a "hope things worked out OK message". She answers the phone and we talk for a few.
OK so I get the "Are you single?" question. I answer and politely decline her offer to meet. If I was looking for an affair I wouldn't be hobbying, would I?
So I tell her, if we met, liked each other and dated, what would you tell your friends about how we met? Oh, he called a wrong number when he was trying to arrange a rendevous with a hooker! Ah destiny!

I always thought it was so sad that he described their relationship that way. I mean, if I were to get married, I'd want to be known as "the one." Not in a bad way, but the one he loves.

In my circle of friends the explanation would really be loved and win an award. I met my wife by resume. When I tell my friends who we met, they can not believe I did what I did as it is so contrary to my demeanor. A couple have even called her to see if I was lying. So far I seem to be ahead in the hat's off department with them. We started dating only about a week after I dumped someone whom everyone thought I'd get married to and when we ran into someone, I could see the quizzical look on their faces. I'd have a good time by introducing her as my mistress and asking them not to tell Jane (not her real name). At first she would get a bit embarrassed and then decided to join the fun and would say that she figured she would get herself setup as my mistress before I married Jane so she could enjoy my wedding night. We've been together some 26 years and even today once in awhile when someone asks who she is, I simply reply she is either my mistress or wife but can't remember which due to Alzheimers.
my favorite thing to do when I was younger was when I would be at a wedding reception during all the small talk with strangers you always get the question "how do you know the bride and groom?"
My response was always along the lines of "ohh, the bride is my ex-wife." Then have some story of how we woke up together in a vegas motel room and discovered we were married. Just the look of the "older peoples faces" were always classic.
