If we accept the definition of addiction as "a state characterized by compulsive engagement in rewarding stimuli despite adverse consequences", then I'm not addicted to this so-called hobby. It takes spare time and money, but at this stage of my life I have plenty of both and my investments in time and money don't infringe on my responsibilities to family, work, friends etc.
If you view your time spent reading reviews etc. as a waste, that should tell you that although you may or may not be addicted, you are spending too much time on those activities and neglecting other activities, and people.Someone once accused me of wasting time in here, but considering that it is my time and I don't consider it a waste, I disagreed.
You, and you alone, determine if participating here is a waste of your time. And only you can determine what action you should take accordingly.

I have been on TER for two months.
I read all the reviews and view all the web sites voraciously for a solid month.
It does ebb and you become a composed man that is ready to take the hobby seriously and ready to treat the women like goddesses.
Provided you read read read about proper etiquette and the specific asks on their web sites.
I'm getting my best advice on twitter right now.
That said I am still making mistakes.
The one that I know I am making right now is that I have not repeated with my first awesome date - a woman that has helped me get started and is fantastic. A repeat booking is the best way to thank a provider for helping you in this endeavor.
Good luck and don't be a jerk to the women! Be a gentleman...

Don't binge watch, take it one episode at a time. Your enjoyment and perception and thinking will evolve through various interesting and enjoyable phases for a very long time, like decades. This is a hobby that has legs, (lol) and will change your personality and view of the world and of other people over time. I feel that it has allowed me to mature in ways that I wouldn't have any other way, as well as making me a much happier and more confident person overall.

If the amount of time you are spending on it is time that you know you should be spending on something else (like your family...) - then it's an addiction. If the amount of money you are spending on it is causing an issue - then it's an addiction. ETC. Otherwise - if there aren't any adverse consequences - just a fun way to pass time no more or less addictive than playing golf. PS - A provider once characterized the stage you describe as "kid in the candy store". Enjoy - that part of it won't last - or it least it hasn't for me - call it a year or three. That said - I still like to see the ladies...It's called doing your research
