TER General Board

Back in the pre-internet days..

...I occasionally met women online in chat rooms or on discussion boards on the old dial-up services like Prodigy, or the original AOL, etc; I'd flirt with them, some of them would flirt back, and if we felt some kind of connection, were approximately ok age-wise, and geography didn't present a problem, we ended up going out on first dates and/or first flings--some of these actually became real-life GFs for awhile.

None of these women were providers.  I don't think providers using the 'net as a marketing tool really started in earnest until '94 or so, when AOL opened the floodgates to the "real" internet.

Nowadays I don't see the point.  You've got your mainstream dating sites if looking for a "real" relationship, and TER and similar for p4p.

either here, or Yahoo chat (when it still existed) or Paltalk or IRC.  Obviously it would be after doing your homework on TERA before contact.

It seems to me that it might be a good tool to see if you really liked the gal before plunking down the cash, also good for providers to get a feel for the guy if he's a creep or not before seeing him.

Especially a chat where the guy or gal could cam up and you could see what you were getting into.  Now I'm not saying cam girls, or any kind of sexual gratification, just a sort of online "meet & greet".

I can see where it would be a waste of time sometimes, but maybe in specific instances it might be helpful?  I dunno.  What does the general consensus think?

A few gals had it on their profile and preferred to be contacted on YM.

It worked out pretty well.. This was before the days of smartphones...

I have always used chat for dating in my personal life and for  finding clients. It's a good way to get to know people genuinely before meeting them.

The TER chat room doesn't seem to ever have anyone in there, but I have been lucky enough to meet one of my favorite clients there. Other chat rooms have been great for meeting other ladies in the industry too.

I think chat is a great way to meet people.
