It seems half the ads I see on many sites these days are TS.  I didn't realize that this was such a significant portion of the hobbying market.  Common sense would suggest that it is only a small fraction of the market, yet the high number of ads indicates the demand is there.  So what gives?

I also have wondered just why there are so many TS ads.

I honestly don't have an answer as to why, but I will certainly agree with you that TS providers are disproportionately represented on some sites like Eros.

Don't get me wrong, there most certainly is a demand, but on some sites it really does appear that fully half the ads are for TS providers and I don't know ANYONE who honestly believes that half the whoremongers out there are interested in dick.

We can argue all day long whether the percentage is one percent or five percent, but no one in their right mind is going to suggest that it's any where near FIFTY percent.

There are MANY men on this site who may have reviewed cis providers, but will never review a TS provider or tell anyone that they've seen a TS provider. I know because I used to be a booker for a TS provider and the amount of guys who booked with their handles full of reviews on cis providers was staggering. I often asked if it was their first TS provider and the answer was almost always no.

It's not a minuscule part of hobbying. It's just a lot less acknowledged because most men on here are uncomfortable with TS providers in general, exemplified by a thread a few weeks ago about TS providers on the photo board.

Also some providers don't want to see guys who have seen TS providers. So men often don't review TS providers for that reason.

and likely a great share of them life-long exclusive heterosexuals. We can quibble over how big or small the "small fraction" is, but don't pretend you don't know what the OP is talking about.

It depends if ads are "free" or "paid."  A paid ad has to justify its existence with cash flow.  Free ads only show supply, not demand.

I agree with the comment that clients might choose to be UTR.  I assume they are TS-->Fem.   Which would be different than just going to a gay dating site where you could probably drink for free.  That might pull in a higher percentage of kinky heteros than man on man sex.

As an aside I think TS and hetero stuff ought to be segregated on TER -- but that is probably too unPC these days.

Is the best way I can think to put it.  I watched a Youtube video where Lexington Steele and Nikki Benz were discussing a similar topic.  She was saying that in her opinion 75% of male performers were Bi-sexual.  I don't know if the number is that high, but then again I don't know if the number is that low either.  And what was once taboo (straight male performers banging men or TS performers) is now the norm and accepted.  I say that to say this, porn stars, nymphos, clients, providers are all the same in this sense.  We think outside the box when it comes to "normal" sexual parameters.  Societal views say it's not normal to have sex with complete strangers, let alone pay or be payed for it.  Some clients have an itch to scratch.

Not that there is an exact percentage, but I venture to say that the percentage of guys who say fuck no to seeing a TS provider is lower than the number of guys who would consider and or have seen a TS provider.

...discussion board is the fourth oldest of TER's twenty general discussion boards.  It was created only after the General Board, The In Search Of board and the Suggestion and Policy board.  TER thought the subject of transsexuals should have a discussion board before Porn Stars, Newbies, etc.

If a provider is making very good money it means she has lots of clients, then why would she want to or need to advertise herself for new clients? Expose herself to LE or crazy clients? No way, not worth it.  When you're making great money you don't need the hassle of advertising or the need to hustle for new clients, because you're so good clients keep coming back. No need for advertising.
Even the hard core hobbyists on TER will tell you that some of the best Providers are UTR. Just check older posts.
Some of the really high demand (not necessarily expensive, some very reasonably priced) girls never advertise, yet they are always busy. They don't need advertising.
Sweet naughty kisses,
Frederica

...was not based on economics, then it was based on fulfilling a need of perceived interest in the hobbying community.  It was a forward-looking decision by TER so many years ago considering that still today many TER idiots still disparage transsexuals:

I knew it!  I suspected all a long that some of these guys are on the down low.  I don't care, but I am worried about HIV which is very high in the gay population. I've met a lot of TS especially while living in NYC.  TS were once men or still operationally are who sleep with other men.  A lot don't use condoms, because there is no fear of pregnancy.  There is also a high risk of drug use in that population..  Be careful out there.

A lot of men are in the closet.  Straight men experiencing real penis instead of Strap on.

Some of the highest rated hookers are TS's. Look at the media, a playboy centerfolds husband was caught with a TS. They are everywhere & some are so "realistic" they look better then real girls, some not so much.  I don't get it but different strokes for different folks

First of all, TS providers are a relatively small percentage of the provider population, but they have to advertise more if they're going to pique the curiosity of the average straight male.  It takes years of noticing TS ads before a "normal" man will start to get curious.  Also, the percentage of scams is much higher in the TS market, so many of the TS ads we're bombarded with are fake.
