ok so i know this isnt the proper place for this question but evidently this is the only board i can post in and the moderator actually publishes my posts. have tried to post in a couple other sections but they never get put up. so my question is i live in middle tennessee and wondering what pre paid "Hobby phone" i should go get for this area. im a newbie and wont use it much at first but dont wanna limit myself. should i just go with the straight talk unlimited for $45?.....just trying to get started and so far all the stuff i have learned from the site has been a real help

I recommend Google Voice instead.  You get a free phone number that transfers to any other phone number you wish, configurable do-not-disturb times, and don't have to worry about having an incriminating extra phone.

As in, "If the shit gets bad, I just throw it away" lol. StraghtTalk phones at your friendly neighborhood Walmart are cheap, surprisingly reliable and untraceable.

In addition, they can be refilled w/minutes at any of the billions of American Walmart stores for 45 bucks a month.

And, surprisingly, because they piggyback on other cellphone towers, reception (even in rural areas) is pretty damn good.
