What exactly do you think this site is all about?

when I just tried to make a post in memory of a young transgender person who committed suicide this week, it was censored because I included the person's name (which is plastered all over the national news anyway)?  I don't get it.  How does that protect anyone's privacy?  Or is the goal to avoid dragging TER into nuisance lawsuits; that makes more sense to me, I guess, except TER is overseas, n'est-ce pas?

(Or is my memory faulty and when certain famous people were arrested did we only refer to them in code?)

Namely to the deceased's family. Remember, this is a board relating to prostitution and posts can appear during a Google search. If the deceased in question was not a provider, then why would you want to make it appear that he/she was or was involved in the business?

Would you deem it acceptable if your real name was posted on TER and your family saw it? Follow me?

and put your "eom" in the headline portion and not the body of your post. It defeats the entire purpose of "eom" if we have to open your post to see it.

It is essentially what I had drafted, minus the victim's name and with an add-on sentence prompted by privacy concerns.  It could not reasonably be construed to imply that the deceased had anything to do with the hobby.  It has everything to do with the critical themes of freedom and respect for human sexuality and love.

BTW, I had wondered if the primary purpose of eom might be so that the moderators can tell whether a message is incomplete?

Besides the "person" in question was a confused minor and you shouldn't be posting about underage people around here, especially about their sexuality. Get it?

is respect of sexuality.  That person killed herself because she got none, and plenty of people on this site have suffered in one way or another because of similar or other prejudices. My post had nothing to do with encouraging sex with minors.  It was in support of not driving people to suicide because of their identities. If you don't like it, read something else.  By the way, your original post in this thread obviously was made without reading what I had written.

Ad hominem attack.  Better check Freud's cigar collection yourself.

I think that young person was still a minor. That fact if it's the case, as I saw the blurb/article the other day. Should be reason enough not to mention him on this adult website. Along with the respect issue that has already been mentioned.

I'll give my opinion on the events that surround this tragedy. Young people should not be making decisions on their sexuality when it comes to LGBT issues, until they are mature enough to do so. Which is way above the legal age for consent, I'd say once they are in to their thirties. immature brains can not make the appropriate decisions regarding their sexual lifestyle of choice. When that choice differs from the way they were designed at conception.

The American lifestyle of anything goes sexually is destroying the thought process of young Americans. I believe that it is fair and just to leave the transgender choice up to the people once they become mature enough to deal with these issues, when they are mature adults.

people that my post addressed minor sex or that my post would drag our community into a problem. Such was not my intention, and I assumed that the moderator permitted my post (without victim's name) because they also did not perceive a problem.  However, if TER should reconsider and remove my post, I will not squawk.  I simply wanted to express support and solidarity for the broad range of personal identities that human beings have. Also, as far as I know the victim in the news had not reportedly ever engaged in sex with another human being, but was suicidal simply because she was condemned strongly for her mere identity. People like her who do survive to adulthood no doubt carry heavy emotional scars, and no doubt there are such people of various identities among us including so-called straight people who simply are "too" fond of this or that type of relationship.  For the record, here is the part of my post that seems to be misconstrued, and I certainly do not think or intend that it encourages or condones minor sex:

"May there come a day when no child is made to feel inherently defective and undeserving of being loved or to love."

Your original post in this thread was about naming names and censoring. It was explained to you why that was done. You can paraphrase a story from the news. You can't name names or post links to news stories that name names. The rules are pretty simple actually.

It's still an old habit of mine from being a mod here for so long. I used to read every single post on every single board I moderated, even those that ended in eom.

The purpose of eom is so "everybody else" knows there is no reason to open the post, not the mods.

Also any post that reveals personal information about anyone, regardless of age, who is not a "public figure" will be disallowed as well. Actors, politicians, pro athletes, et al are exempt unless of course they are TER members.

I doubt that you remember but a certain pro athlete was "outed" a while back as a hooker, any posts referring to her by name were deleted as well. TER's policy has always been that a person's privacy trumps "our right to know" and quite frankly, it's a policy I fully agree with.
