I have a really itching problem. I have been alerted through my own email that I have gotten some private mails through TER's mail system, and I cannot even view them because I am a non-vip. As a beginner in the hobby I am wondering if it could be some really informative stuff that was sent to me regarding some of my posts. I feel that it would be better if we could at least see the subject of the mail or even view the mail but not be able to reply back until we get VIP.

that their PM's are going to be seen by the intended receiver when they are not.

The envelope should not appear when the member is not VIP and non VIP members should get a screen pop up telling them that they can not sent a PM unless they get VIP privliges.

It's unfair and confusing to both right now.

That is also another solution that I would not mind. I would prefer the earlier solution though =).

Obviously, TER is limiting access to non-VIP's in the hopes of generating revenue.  As such, I see that they would be unlikely to help those who are not get more information.

As a VIP, I do agree that it would be nice to know that the PM I'm sending is going to fall on deaf ears.  Several fellow hobbyists lose their VIP from time to time, and it's always a crap shoot to see if they'll respond.

Most people get around this by posting on the boards that they are not VIP and posting an email address.  Of course the other option is to spend the $20 a month.

As far as removing the mailbox, I like the idea but the lack of a mailbox is also currently the "alais indicator".  I would really hate to see that go. Perhaps the solution is another icon to indicate an alias is being used.
