A suggestion regarding private mail

It would be helpful for a lot of us if you implemented an address
feature.  I know there are several members whose pm address doesn't necessarily correspond with their posting names, & the only means I'm aware of at this time of keeping track of their addresses, or anyone else's, is to retain at least one of their messages.  This is a bit unweildy.  Not only would an address book make the process easier, it seems to me it would be a space saving feature as well.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I think you are talking about sending mail to aliases.
Staff has said they can't or won't support this.

I may be wrong but I think Greywolf is referring to something along the lines of the "favorites" section on the VIP page.  There members are able to make a list of their favorite providers and have it available with just a click.  Having a place where one could save the PM addresses of members with whom you've corresponded would prevent you from having to save one of their messages.

Oops, I didn't understand.  Well, here's what I do.  I maintain one PM message that I send myself with addresses and other notes.  When I want to add or change something, I simply hit reply (to myself), add or edit the contents, get rid of the "RE" in the subject, and send it (to myself) and delete the previous one.  I end up keeping that one message as my notebook.  It's nice because it is free format and I can put anything in it I want.  This might not work for you, but it's just a suggestion.  -link

Thanks for the suggestion.  If that works for you it's probably worth a try on my part.  But I'm still hoping Staff will consider my initial post.

{Now I see that linkmeister raised the issue awhile back.}

I suspect this has been proposed before, but I only recently realized that this section was another discussion board and I apologize for not yet reading the archives here.  Nonetheless, it would be great if we knew who can ready PMs and who cannot (e.g., expired VP membership).  There have been several posts on the local LA discussion board, for example, where the person says something like "whoever sent me private mail, I can't read it ...."  If there is so way of knowing this already, I apologize for my ignorance.
