Please bring back the ability to search for thin, slim, or skinny providers. Slender is way too broad a term...

First of all, slender is too broad? I thought slender kinda meant the opposite of broad. No? LoL (you had to know that was coming)

Under the last version of TER, a lot of people chimed in basically saying what's with this thin AND skinny shit, they mean the same thing, we don't need both. I happen to agree with that. I don't mean to laugh AT you, but the irony sort of strikes me as humorous. Just a funny little reminder that you can't please everyone. What's that song say, "you can't please everyone so you gotta please yourself."

Just for my own curiosity, what do you see as the difference between thin, skinny, and slim? Maybe I just never thought about it enough.

What is the correct sequence? thin .lt. slim .lt. skinny .lt. fat ? Or is it skinny .lt. thin .lt. slim .lt. fat? Or ...?

There is no consistency in the use of those near synonyms.

But this does give me the chance to advocate ONCE AGAIN for the use of images rather than adjectives for many visual descriptions.  Build could be based on accepted silhouettes used in psychology research (waist-to-hip ratio) or maybe in the fashion (designer) world. You don't have describe her shape, you pick the image that matches her most closely, using the same eyeballs you used when you were looking at her.

The use of images applies to skin color / complexion, instead of the stupid and ambiguous "ethnicity" label. (See my posts with the Mattell Complexion Chart or with the Pantone Skin Tone Chart.)

Images could also be used for boobs, hair color, hair style, and so on. It would be like many places now use icons on their cash registers for employees who can't properly enter an order for "hamburger, ketchup, pickle, no onion" and the price. Press the hamburger icon, the ketchup bottle icon, the pickle icon ... or however it works.

TER: Switch to using IMAGES on the review submission forms. You can show images on the Profile or use the matching text descriptor only.

Attached Image: not the best example, but if you find some good standard images from legitimate sources , post them or send them to TER admin.

So happy to see my post garnered so much attention (and humor) so quickly. The pun was intentional and I assumed someone would get the joke. Well done...

Please note my post asked for the ability so search for " thin, slim, or skinny providers." Any one of those adjectives would be satisfactory to me as a search term. Like you I don't really see much of a difference between them. My reason for this is because I think the term "slender" is misused. Slender can be athletic, average and I've even seen a post for a provider that was clearly bbw using the term whereas thin connotes a certain delicate nature that slender does not.

Hoping TER will add back the search term

Fun? Humor? I'm not kidding!! TER's decision to use adjectives for a lot of visuals was not just a bad choice but it was poorly implemented. What are the new words?  
Average, Slender, Athletic, V Muscular, Few extra #s, Flabby, Plus Size, Plus Plus Size ... ????? What the fuck do those terms even mean? They are mixing up all kinds of terms to describe appearance in non-unique ways. And viewers will hardly ever agree: one guy's Plus is another guy's average. How many is a "few extra pounds?" Compared to what, Jumbo the Elephant or Bambi the Fawn? Some guys love giant love handles to grab onto (Slender. Just right.) and another guy will call her Flabby.

IMAGES ARE UNAMBIGUOUS. Here's the lineup (of images). Which one most closely matches her appearance, REGARDLESS of what you want to name it?

We agree about the misuse of the terms or maybe the LACK OF CONSISTENT USE is also a factor. Replace the search form to use IMAGES and you can select your preferred build / shape as "#1, #2 or #3" but definitely not anything from #4 to #10.

I, and several others, also prefer to search on the old thin or skinny. But they can make up any word they want to cover that build range. We are stuck with Slender, for now. I don't think that merely changing the words around will solve the larger problem.
