BTW, I bailed out on the team a couple of yrs ago when Raiders decided to move from a shithole of a town to the Entertainment Capital of the World..

Are there any fans in the house? Anyone left from the bygone era?

Just as bad as the Cleveland Guardians.
Meaningless.

There is more to it, I think, than meets the eye.

President Biden's dog's name is Commander. Dan Snyder is looking for a new stadium. Current lease at Fedex Stadium in Hanover, MD runs out in 2027.  Not a bad way to cozy up to the current administration to get a good deal done in DC.  Mayor Muriel Bowser already tweeted welcoming the name change, and encouraged them to come to the District.  She was always very pro bringing Football back to DC but not under the old name.

Snyder's last attempt to cozy up to the politicians on the other side of the aisle didn't quite succeed the way he might have expected. It's an open secret that Bruce Allen was hired more for his connections in the Republican circles and not because he was such a great football mind. Yes, he is a son of a great coach, but he is also a brother of a Republican Governor and and a US Senator.

It would be interesting to see if the Commanders command any true respect or not..

Fans had to wait 2 years for this, not only does the fans get a stupid name and they also have to look forward to getting waste thrown on them by the messed up pipes at FedEx field. This franchise is cursed. I wonder will Synder get his money back from the certain native american groups and people that he gave money to and posted the old logo all over some equipment he gave them.

Chances are that Snyder might get pushed out of the league - not for being a terrible owner, but for sexual harassment.

Jeff Bezos' name seems to tied to the team almost every other week. Fans may get what they want, a new owner, a stadium, a better management, hopefully not a new town..  Although, I am no longer a fan, i can understand and empathize how big a loss it would be for the community.

What is surprising is that they didn't have a new name ready to go when it was all but inevitable that they will have to change the name. I mean c'mon - which billion dollar company operates in that way.
