just died.  Those two, along with Harry Gallatin, Ernie Vandeweghe and Sweetwater Clifton comprised the starting lineup of those great Knick teams that reached the finals from 1951-53.  It's easy for NYers to remember great Knick teams because there haven't too many of them.  Certainly the truly great 1969-73 Knicks will always be remembered fondly, and the very good (but not great) Knick teams with Ewing and Starks provided some excitement, but other than that, it's been a basketball desert in NY.

hate to see the old guys pass on-Carl Braun, as I recall, had a deadly two handed over head set shot-Harry 'The Horse' was a good one and was Ernie the father of KIKI Vandeweghe? Sweetwater Clifton had a stint with the Globetrotters before joining the Knicks, I believe, and got his name because of his love of soft drinks. Loved the Knick teams with Earl the Pearl, Clyde, Bradley, Debussure (sp) and Willis Reed-Reed's coming out of the tunnel on 1 leg and scoring the 1st points of the title game was awesome-Ewing and Starks had 1 shot at a championship but Starks shot 3-18 in a game 7 and they didn't get it done-Always great to reminisce with you, Buddy-1rob...OUT
