Strong words for an alias......
I can't stand the Yanks or Phillies....
But will proudly say so with my handle.....
Fuck off...Y_fmOMAC.

Mussina was their best pitcher last year, and won more games for them than any other pitcher of theirs since 2000, but he came on right after the 2000 win and retired this year.

The only other person I am happy for on their side is Girardi.  As for the rest of them...the best team money can buy.

My favorite team will always be whoever is playing the Yank-mes.

were in the Series right before he came up, and were back in the Series the year after he retired.

Yes, the Yankees certainly spend money for their team (as do the Red Sox and a couple of others), but they do it WITHIN THE RULES.  Everybody outside of New York (and many New Yorkers as well) complains about this, but NOTHING is being done to change the rules.  So long as the rules of baseball allow this, the Yankees will continue to do it, and they should if they can afford to.  Blaming and criticizing the Yankees for doing what the rules allow is pointless.

The rules do allow him to do it, BUT remember two things.

1) The ownership is part of the group that makes the rules and he can and DOES buy votes when those rules are discussed.

2) He cares about winning not how he wins.  Some teams do it through bringing up players through developement and some do it through buying proven players.

What major league baseball will soon come to find out is that they will either have to decrease the number of games played per season or eliminate a great number of teams.  Teams like NY Mets/Yankees, Chi Cub, Boston and a few others are creating a money issue by over paying talent that will be baseballs demise. Great example would be Posada vs Mauer.  Mauer has 3 batting titles and is better in every staticicall catagory yet Posada has made more money in every year Mauer has won a batting title.  This year Mauer would be 11th on the Yankees payroll.  I would be hard pressed to think that he would be the 11th best player on that team in ANYONES eyes.

A note EVERYTHING is within the rules until you get caught.  A blind eye can be boughten as well.  ;)

baseball should both eliminate teams AND shorten the season.  But you must remember that the Yankees have quite a few players on their team that came up through their own system - Jeter, Rivera, Posada, Pettitte, Cano, just to name a few.  Of course, A-Rod, Teixeira, Sabbathia, Burnett and Matsui were purchased, and needless to say, they made the difference.  But as long as it's within the rules, the Yankees SHOULD be trying to win by buying the best (in their eyes) players.  If other teams are willing to let them go, maybe they don't want or care about winning as much.  Your Posada-Mauer example was interesting.  Mauer is better - no question.  Now, when his contract is up, will the Twins keep him, or let him go to the highest bidder?  If they can't afford to keep him, maybe they shouldn't be in the league.  Either that, or change the system.  I would have absolutely no problem if the rules were changed to "equalize" the talent around the league.  But keep in mind that even that won't completely cure the problem, and the NFL is an example.  Things are much more equalized there, but it's not perfect.

the Yankees lost Nady (Swisher), Cabrara (Gardner) and then Damon (Hairston) all to injury during this season.

BTW, how many times did the Phillies throw at A-Rod before both benches were finally warned?  Payback will come in 2010.
