This seems to me to be a very weak punishment for Luis Suarez. This would be appropriate for a first time offender, however this is now the third time Suarez has bitten an opponent. There is no place in the game for a player like this, no matter how talented he is.

He should have received at least 12 months in my opinion.

What's yours?

but think a year for biting is a bit extreme. If they suspended American football players for biting each other they're wouldn't be any left to play a game.

Could you name even one for me please?

Personally, I think that considering this is the third time for him, a year probably would have been more appropriate, with a lifetime ban on a fourth episode like this. There is just no excuse for this, If he had punched him like a man in the heat of the moment, I might be a bit more understanding, but after watching the replay about a dozen times this morning, I can't work up even the least bit of sympathy for him.

I've heard stories about what happens at the bottom of the pig pile; eye-gouging, biting, a fist in the nuts, etc. Conrad Dobler of the old St. Louis Cardinals was reportedly the worst.

It's quite difficult to actually bite someone through both a mouth guard AND a face mask. I don't see a lot of biting happening in American football, Futbol, well that's a different story. Maybe it's because they are taught not to use their hands, so they bite instead of throwing punches. lol
