A 2-time Cy Young Award winner with the Blue Jays and Phillies, Halladay was killed when his plane went down in the Gulf of Mexico near the Florida coast around noon. He was one of my favorite pitchers to watch. When Halladay was on, there was no one better. Sad day for baseball.
In an era where starters go 5 innings and call it a day, Halladay was that rare pitcher who went the distance. Over 60 complete games says it all. A great competitor and by all accounts a better teammate. Hopefully he finds his way into Cooperstown---definitely deserves to be.
Agreed, a sad day for baseball. RIP and condolences to his family
