leaving.  Damn, he was only 7-6, and he's a loose cannon that already brought some unfavorable publicity to Tennessee (something they should be used to by now).  If he wants to leave, wish him well and let him go.  Get somebody in there that WANTS to be there.  Tennessee was warned about Kiffen.  They ignored it at their peril.  Well, what goes around comes around, and Tennessee is getting what they deserve.  The fact that they're crying about it just makes me laugh!

Tennessee fans have a right to be angry, but the way the landscape is in college athletics, coaches have to show no loyalty to a University. Heck, Brian Kelly can leave Cincinnati BEFORE his team actually concludes a season. College coaches are always looking for their next job; its the nature of the beast. Conversely, if a player decided to leave he has to sit out a year. Or, good luck to a player who wants to get out of a letter of intent because the coach has left. Too bad.

You would have liked Lane to stay at Tennessee, but why should he. He landed a more prestigious job and that is all he cares about.

said he was happy to be at Texas. I've heard Troy Calhoun at Air Force mentioned also as a possibility for Tennessee.
