Giants win over Cowboys

The only thing that would have made it even sweeter for us Giants fans is if the Cowboys had blocked that first FG attempt when their Head Coach called for a timeout at the end of the game. And I would have loved to see Jerry Jones' face when Tynes converted the second one.

You should know by now that they'll post almost as much about the Cowboys losing as they will about the Yankees losing. It's en vogue to bash, trash and lash both teams.

The Cowboys have always been put on a high pedestal by its strong fan base and the media (due to the marketing brilliance of Tex Schramm). But let's be honest; they have NOT been a championship level team in a very long time. When you have had the historical success of the Cowboys (first w/ Landry and all the teams of the mid 60's to late 70's and then with a new generation of fans who grew up watching the teams of the early 90's) people will take notice when the team struggles. They have NOT won a playoff game since 1996.

Tony Romo, frankly, may simply not be that good when it counts. What is the last big game he has won???. High School?. He's lost both his playoff games, and last year, couldn’t win a December game (see Steelers, Ravens, and Eagles) to get the Cowboys in the playoffs. I am not sure what the fascination is with Romo; he has yet to show any toughness and mettle in the clutch.

The Cowboys are a good team, but no where near an elite team. And to be an elite team, a team which year in and year out competes for the playoffs and the opportunity to win a Super Bowl (i..e Colts, Giants, Pats, Steelers, Chargers) you need to have a franchise QB. It remains to be seen if Dallas has one.

One of the main reasons for hatred of the Cowboys is one that you mentioned, the marketing. They have always been portrayed as "America's Team", the clean-cut boys next door. If they had acted the part, without people like Michael (Do you know who I am) Irvin, Deion (I'm not paid to tackle) Sanders, Nate (Mr. Pot-in-a-Van) Newton, and Terrell Owens and Jerry Jones, maybe the attitudes toward them would not be so bitter. I remember the 60's and the Ice Bowl, Bob Lilly, Lee Roy Jordan, Roger Staubach, and Don Perkins, players who carried themselves with class.

They hired TO and Pac Man Jones.  It's OK though.  They say you fear the things you hate :D  So keep fearing us boys, cause the Cowboys will win where it matters hehehehehehe.

for Jerry Jones. They were my favorite team when Tom Landry was coach. I guess I'm just too "old school."

Roger Staubach and people like him made the Cowboys a great team.  But people like Jerry Jones, Michael Irvin, T.O., Deion Sanders, etc. destroyed their reputation everywhere but Dallas, and the whole concept of "America's Team" makes me want to puke.  I rejoice whenever they lose!

right there. Don't forget about the Raiders. The only difference between the Cowboys and Raiders is that the Raiders have always been hated, but then again that's been part of their marketing campaign.

makes me puke. Go, Go dancers in a cage. Has Jerry Jones forgotten that the game is about football. I'm glad the Giants won. They play football the old school way, playing good defense and excelling in rushing the passer.

Cowboys use to have a system like the Steelers. An identity. Good defense with a ball control offense. Precision passing with novel running plays. What happen to that system? ..and Tony Romo as the QB, what a joke. He is a nice guy, but his footwork is so undisciplined. He is like he jabs his throws. It's embarrassing.

The Cowboys were never America's team. It was always just a marketing gimmick. They were Dallas' team except that they haven't haven't played in Dallas in 38 years.

Except when they make the Superbowl.  When I bet against them, they lost.  When I bet with them, they won.  Last time I played squares when they were in the Bowl, I won both the 1Q and 2Q pots.

So, while I hate the Pokes during the season, they have never let me down in the Bowl.

Prediction: They are not Superbowl bound this year.  Romo is not Roger Staubach, and the Doomsday D is now but a bad memory.  Marion Barber is good, but falls short of Calvin Hill, Tony Dorsett, and Emmit Smith.  Sorry, Tasha, not this year...

If you look at the overall numbers, Romo is not a bad QB.  If he could only get his interceptions under control, I think he COULD be a great QB.  But when you GIVE the other team the ball, your WR don't matter, your RB don't matter.  None of your offense matters.
