Who last year would have chosen the Rays and the Phillies over the Red Sox-Dodgers?
One could say it's obvious that the Yankees will win it this year (can you say CYNIC?). But is it really a certainty?
Oh, and I am rooting for the Angels (they have had success against the Yank-mes, and Kazmir is looking sharp today, but it is still creepy to root for an LA team, being from San Diego) and the Cardinals (as Albert Pujols and Chris Carpenter both deserve it).
BTW, great game in Minnesota today...almost through six innings in a scoreless tie between the must win Twins (and manager of the year Ron Gardenhire) and the Royals with Zack Greinke (who had better win the Cy Young this year or it will be robbery) on the mound.
(Of course, as soon as I post this, the person who should get the AL MVP, Joe Maure, pushes across a run for the Twins...and now it is 4-0 Twins after six. If Zack is going to lose, I hope it is to the Twins, and then Detroit loses and the Twins get into the playoffs...they deserve it more than the Tiggers).

I believe this is the Yanks year-on the other side, I can't expect my Dodgers-BTW, I'm an original Brooklyn Dodger fan--to come through-they haven't in 21 years and have generally sucked but its been a good year for them-Torre v. Yanks is a good story but ain't likely to happen-my pick is between Cards-Phillies with the edge to the Cards-Lidge was awesome last season but has been a disaster in '09-that to be the difference-1rob...The 'Peerless Prognosticator'....OUT 8-)
League playoff teams have gone into a tailspin lately, it's hard to say who'll make it to the Series. The sentimental favorite is the Dodgers, with Torre and Manny going back to New York. But realistically, I think the Cards will make it.
they may get taken out. The Twins are hot, and can stay hot. I don't see another team being able to stay with the Yankees through a whole series. I'm a Red Sox fan, but I don't see them getting past the Angels. In the National league, I like the Cards.
I'd like to see the Cards and Twins.
