One way or another the 2017 Houston Astros will always be labeled Cheaters.
Bang that Trash Can!

Alex Cora just got fired. He was the 'Astros  bench coach in 2017. So the Sox 2018 title is now tainted.

As a Nats fan, I'm glad my team did it the right way

They cheated the game. Look at the insanely harsh way MLB dealt with Pete Rose over the decades and there was no finding he cheated the game.

Let's lower the boom on REAL cheaters when we catch them.

I agree, vacated and give the rings back.  As far as Pete Rose, I grew up idolizing him.  He didn't cheat per say but he gambled on the team he managed.

You wouldn't say that about a drug or alcohol problem would you? And did he bet as a player? I don't know I am asking.

and that would be if it ever came out that he bet against his own team. But Pete Rose was a competitor much more than he was in it for the money. Pete Rose did indeed bet on Reds games, but he bet ON his own team, not against it.  With all the rather miserable human beings in the HOF, people like Ted Williams for example, or even Babe Ruth who wouldn't last a single season in our current PC climate, I think it's a travesty that Pete Rose is not in the HOF.

And yes, Pete Rose did bet while a player, most of his bets where the same as when he was a manager, he bet ON the Reds. Personally as a gambler myself, I think I like it if the star of the team or the manager has his money riding right along with mine. lol

Side note, I played golf with Pete Rose once, not surprisingly it was at a casino golf event. I liked him for what it's worth, but then "birds of a feather" lol

I remember you being all bent over him betting on his team. Even a chink can think things through. But it's "Charlie Hustle" not "Mister" Hustle. I know how those small things are so important to you lately. lol

I was NEVER "all bent" over him betting on his team. I would only have been all bent if he had ever bet AGAINST his own team, something that not only never happened, but it's never even been alleged that he did so.

As for Mister Hustle, vs Charlie Hustle, I plead sobriety. My bad you are absolutely correct. I plan on rectifying this whole sobriety thing in the next five minutes or so however. Go Chiefs!!! (actually I don't much care who wins the game, it's only the spread that counts with me)

Back to Pete Rose and the HOF, I have ALWAYS supported him being in Cooperstown, and I defy anyone to find a post where I have EVER said otherwise. You obviously have me confused with some other drunken gambling whoremongering slant eyed degenerate. There are so many of us you know. lol

but I guess I should do it publicly too before nick jizzes all over himself.

Yes, you proved me WRONG, my bad. If I said it I must have meant it at the time. I will admit that even though it was Laffy who brought up the point, the point about going all out on one game in order to win a game he had a particularly big bet on at the possible detriment to later games, like letting a starter stay in too long at the risk of his arm, is an actual valid point.

Looking at his career in its entirety however, I have to concede that my feeling today is that Pete Rose deserves to be in Cooperstown.
