Someone please tell me we did not just get rid of the best fucking closer in baseball Craig kimbrel.

The Braves have already written off the 2015 season before the first game has even been played.

I bet you they MADE the Padres take "Melvin" (BJ) as part of the trade to get Kimbrel.

I don't know exactly how much salary the Braves have already trimmed by getting rid of the Upton bros, Kimbrel, et al, but I hope it's enough to field a winning team next year when the new ballpark opens. Remember Boston returning to the WS the year after trimming a quarter of a billion dollars worth of salary just a few short years ago? Maybe the Braves can do the same?

Except to dump salary. There is no replacing someone like kimbrel, I'm still in shock. One thing is clear though with that idiotic trade they just handed the Nat's the nl east. As far as next year goes I have lost all confidence in the Braves after this move.

Well, now my betting strategy should be clear. As you know I live in Dallas, Tx so my adopted "home team" is the Rangers who also are going to suck this year. I guess I can do a parlay and bet on who ever plays the Braves hooked up with whoever plays the Rangers. lol

I already heard from him on the RO board, hopefully he cuts us some slack this year... And that might not be a bad strategy, one that I would implement today if they weren't playing the lowly marlins. It's hard to root against your own team but when money is on the line that will be the case this year. Texas you can always adopt the Astros they have a good young catcher, could surprise This year. Speaking of parlays I have a 6 teamer in the mlb today which I know won't hit but what the hell it's opening day.

I bet you the Marlins are the only other team in the division other than the Gnats who finish even .500 for the year.

And I am surprised that Mets have no option but to have him open the season. The only weapon he has in his arsenal is fast ball. If he can locate it with varying speed, he can be lights out. Else he will end up giving 4-5 runs easily.  He pitched at 4.09 ERA (baseball-reference.com) in 2014. Not exactly stellar.  

No idea why one of your best guys Matt Harvey didn't start the season?

But you would hope to have your number three or four pitcher with those kind of stats, not the guy you hand the ball to on opening day.

Trust me, I don't have high expectations from NATS early on until we get Rendon, Werth, and Span back. 500 would be a good place to be by end of April. Although the schedule is pretty light early on.

Had no idea most of their players were injured. You are right will be tough sledding for you guys for awhile.

I still think that Matt Harvey should have started, because being a starting pitcher is an honor second to none. Pitcher is the most important single player in the game of baseball, and Harvey has earned it.  

I am in full support of Mets organization putting innings limit on Harvey - a controversial decision when we did it with Strasburg, but it seems more and more organizations are following the suit, but there is a whole season to make tweaks that would keep below the innings limit.
