A few weeks ago there was a discussion posted here about greatest/favorite moments in sports history, and I thought that it would be interesting if we explored the "flip side" of that equation......the "Not-So-Great" moments.
As before, can be related to an individual or team, you didn't need to witness it (i.e. be alive when it occurred)......just the (player or team) you would consider the poster child for the "Agony of Defeat

Probably the low point of his career. I am no Jets fan but watching this hurt even me. He is a far better player than this...

1. In the 1985 World Series, St. Louis was leading Kansas City 3 games to 2. After Don Denkinger's blown call in Game 6, the Cards lost Game 7 11-0.
2. In 2003, the Cubs were leading Florida 3-0 in the 8th inning of Game 6. After the Steve Bartman incident, the Cubs gave up 8 runs, then lost Game 7. The Marlins, of course, went on to win the World Series.

In 1964, the Philadelphia Phillies appeared on their way to the World Series, holding a 6 and 1/2 game lead in the National League standings with just 12 games to go.  They were flying high; led by future HOF pitcher (and U.S. Senator) Jim Bunning and ROY Dick Allen.

They proceeded to lose 10 in a row, and were overtaken by a red-hot St. Louis Cardinal team who ended up with the WS berth (and ultimately the championship)

The first of many heartbreaks for manager Gene Mauch.....

As huge fan of the Maize & Blue, this one is especially painful.

Defensive Lineman Jim Marshall (of the Purple-People Eater fame), scoring a "touchdown" in the wrong direction (sorry, cannot remember the year of the opponent).

The single stupidest blunder I have ever witnessed in sports. Period.

I might have the year wrong, I could look it up but I'm busy in the office! It was the one at Celtic Manor, I want to say he was playing against Graeme McDowell. Anyone care to fact check for me? :D

They go over the timeout as well as the team's history as a whole; it's available for free on youtube if you care to search.

It's very strange to me at least that Chris Webber now seemingly wants nothing to do with his former teammates. Quite sad too, really.

Larry Holmes and Trevor Berbick get into a fight, including a JUMPING KICK FROM THE ROOF OF A CAR. What more could you want?!
