I know it's only the Phillies but

you have to admit it was a great game last night.

I'm surprised the lead base ball story on the NY based national TV media was not "Mets and Yankeees react to results of game one of the NLCS"

and maybe brad lidge is on the right track in regaining his form.  Only time will tell.

figured out what was wrong in the regular season. If he's right, Philly should take the series.

but how do you let a rattled 21 year old pitch to the top RBI man with two on?

Turning point in the game.

I'm sure the "NY based national TV media" can report on the game without mentioning the Mets and the Yankees.

but the Dodgers deserve to be down 2-0.

I am a die-hard Dodger fan and I am starting to think that they may be a team touched by destiny. The Cards game them game two and now the Phillies gift wrapped today's win.

Sorry, Cynic, but I am rooting for the "other" LA team to beat the Yanks, even though I am far from an Angels fan. Freeway series would be a blast!

grow up in Philly there's an automatic dislike of the NY dominated press and how anything NY is put first.

Go Phillies!!

Seems like Utley called Holliday for late inning defensive tips. Though gotta give it to Martinez. He pitched extremely well.

How about we just stay in LA for the rest of the series? It was blue skies and 85 degrees today, and the women were wearing very little. Now we have to go to Philly and play in 40 degree weather. Baseball is a summer sport.

Agree, it was a great game, but then again, I missed most of it live, since I was actively engaged in the hobby last night.

If the Phillies win the NLCS, they will be a legitimate threat to defeat either the Yankees or Angels in the Series, and repeat...they are, after all, the defending World Champs...know how to win, and field a team as good as any.  Their one area of concern is the bullpen...Brad Lidge has been inconsistent all year, and the rest of them are nowhere near invincible.

unless they can chase the Phillie starter and get into the bullpen. Hamels, Lee and now Martinez are just too damn good while they are on the mound.

Actually, today's pitching mentality of automatically pulling a starter in the 7th, 8th, or 9th favors the Boys in Blue. Can you imagine trying to pull Koufax, Valenzuela, or Hershiser in the 8th inning of a playoff shutout? Ahhh, the days of old.
