As a 50 yr plus Dodger fan, it appears my boys are doing their usual playoff choke-but the Phillies are a great team and if they win, hope they can whip the Yankees, who have it going this year-1rob...remembering '88..OUT

in the ninth inning of the last game of the regular season back in 1950.  Dick Sisler hit that HR that beat them.  Phillies had a really good team, led by great pitching by Robin Roberts and Jim Konstanty.  That was the first year that I really got into baseball as a 7 year old kid, and I got REALLY upset when the Dodgers lost the pennant.

there's no telling how many Robin Roberts would have won had he pitched for a top team-the '50 Whiz Kids were pretty much the high point for the Phillies for that era as I recall-Roberts spent some time here in Tampa as the coach for the University of S. Florida-Richie Ashburn was a terrific player for Philly on that team-50 and 51 were horror years for the Dodger faithful-referencing your post and then the collapse and the Bobby Thompson shot the following year-Hey, the Dodgers are up 4-3 tonight so there's still a ray of hope-Later, Buddy, 1rob
