Neither pitcher has been lights out down the stretch, but I figured they would give Hammels the game one honor (World Series MVP, ace (in theory) of the staff)...Lee should be just happy that he is pitching for a contender and a real chance at the title.
Maybe this little slight by Manuel will light a small fire under Hammels
but the league finally caught up to him and he's only been so-so the last month or two. I think itwas because Lee will have had 5 days rest since his last start, while Hammels has only 3.
Lee's better ability to come back on short rest.
