help a team if he would come off the bench. But he insists on being a starter. Memphis started winning consistently after they let him go and one only has to look at what happened to Detroit last season after they acquired him from Denver. Denver made the Western Conference finals, and Iverson caused team dissent by insisting on starting over Richard Hamilton.

Iverson could be a great asset again if he could simply GET OVER HIMSELF.

but only if he would come off the bench. But he still thinks of himself as a starter, and would be a discipline for any coach who tried to sit him. And that is the reason I think he should retire.

Same talent level as AI, and same disposition. What did Marbury do for the Celtics last year. Sometimes chemistry is just as important as talent. No GM in his right mind will take a chance on AI, especially if his team is competing for a playoff spot.

Sometimes chemistry can overcome shortcomings in talent. It emphasizes teamwork more than individual abilities.

Iverson has been a cancer on every team he has played on.  He has never won a championship, and I am not surprised with his attitude.  Always me first.  And then there are his "Practice" comments.  Correct me if I am wrong, but don't you practice to get better?

Iverson had the distinction of being the captain of the US team that had their worst showing at an international competition in decades.  No surprise here.  He set a great example by being reprimanded for being late to the FIRST team meeting, and them griping that he was reprimanded. Nice captain!!!

The NBA is better off without him.
