In a year that many though would be his last (myself included), the guy leaves San Diego (partly his fault, but still not how we should have let him go considering he is one of the few long term Padres stars we have ever had over the years) and goes and has a great year in Milwaukee, posting his best ERA outside of the World Series year of 1998, and arguably has a better year than his replacement, Heath Bell (although Heath's stats were hurt more by about 5-6 late season performances, and who could blame him for losing steam with where the Madres have been this year).

While being a closer isn't the most athletically demanding job in the world, you gotta hand it to Hoffy for proving many wrong.  Maybe he is just determined to not let Mariano Rivera catch him, but you still have to tip your cap to the guy.

Thanks for all those years, Trev.  San Diego will never be the same without "Hells Bells" opening the ninth for Trevor Time.

This must be what's called a "man-crush!"

It is both an athletically demanding and mentally demanding job.  First, you got to be ready 162 games and only get your number called about 45-50 if you are on a good club.  Then, you got a bring the heater 90+ as well as have another pitch you can throw for strikes.

#42, Mariano Rivera is the best.
