Why couldn't they do this couple of days ago and not have Hammel start with us on 7/4 game...:D

Hammel has been a Nats killer since he was with the O's. I can't be any more happy to see him go away.

This trade was a surprise to me also, trading your two best starting pitchers. I wonder when the Epstein genius will start showing itself.

They seem to be constantly in this rebuilding phase.. With the exception of 2008 when they won it all, they have been mostly in the bottom 5.

We were in the bottom around 2007,2008. In 2009 we acquired Strasburg as 1st round pick. In 2010 we got Harper and 2011 we got Anthony Rendon.  In 2012 we won it all with the best record in MLB. Last year we missed playoffs by 5-6 game or so. This year we are looking solid..

So the point being, at some point the rebuilding has to stop.

Yes, I have to say Billy Beane has done it again!  Whether or not we win the World Series or not,
you have to give the A's a big "A" for effort.  The dearly departed Board had a raucous group of
A's Fans, deep in the heart of the Giants' area.  I will attempt to carry on the tradition here!

Will they be able to two resign the two if they continue to improve and perform at the rate they are currently on.  Jeff will probably command 15 to 20 Million when his contract comes up .  Also considering what the Detroit Tiger's pitcher did I would also look for both of them to turn down money if they are approached before their contracts expire.

I agree that the A's may not be able to re-sign them, but Jeff is signed through 2015,
which will give the A's 1 1/2 years of his seervices.  Billy will work out another trade
if he has to, but it appears he is rolling the dice to go for it all this year.

I wouldn't worry about the A's, given Billy's track record.  They may do their
player acquisitions at Wal-Mart prices, but they get Nordstrom's levels of
service out of them!

In Billy we trust!!!
