Shaq traded to Cavaliers

Dang I can't believe it but the Suns traded Shaq to the Cavaliers.  He was one of the reasons they at least won some games, now who knows if they will win any.

We will see tomorrow with the draft and the trade and see if we can get our monies worth and some decent players.

It will be interesting to see if Shaq can have another year as good as he did this past year.  And you think the Cavs are gonna be shopping Ilgauskas?

Personally, I don't see it making the difference for Cleveland, unless Mo Williams takes his game to another level.

As for the Suns, they will probably buyout Wallace, so the question is what will they do with the cap room.  They need to blow up their team.  As much as I love them, they can't defend shit...and that is all of them.

Shaq's best days are FAR behind him. LeBron plays at a different speed then Shaq. I see a big clash here that apparently they do not. But since I'm a Celtic's fan, I will enjoy seeing how this plays out.

nice to see another Celtics fan on here. ;)

Shaq had a pretty darn good year this year.  If they move Ilgauskas, I could see him having a decent year next year, and also being okay with his role, because I can't imagine him wanting to move any more after this one.

Again, though...two can't do it, and the only one on that team that is close to being a real reliable threat in the face of serious playoff defense is Mo Williams.  He will really be the key for the Cavs.

to spell it correctly? I have to google 95% of the foreign players, especially the Serbian players.

Granted the Suns were never going to win when they had Marion, Diaw, Bell and the whole run and gun thing, but it was sure fun to watch. Shaq didn't help, Stoudemire has worn out his welcome, and Kerr has got to be in the hot seat. But then maybe Sarver went to the Donald Sterling (Clippers) school of management. That was the fastest dismantling of a team I have ever seen.

I just hope Shaq realizes he is the 2nd fiddle to Lebron. If Shaq thought Kobe hogged the ball, he ain't seen nothing yet. It will be fun to watch Boston, Orlando and Cleveland beat the shit out of each other. Me thinks Cleveland isn't done. I wouldn't be surprised if they went after Odom or Ariza. They really don't have a perimeter defender, and Ariza gives them that.

It's also funny to see how much easier it is for us all to get along away from the P/R board.

I agree...I LOVE the Suns, and it killed me that they couldn't take it further from 05-07.  At this point, though, they have to do something, because they are gonna go downhill fast.  And Kerr was a bad hire.  Nice guy, not GM material.

I think you are right, Cleveland could use someone else as well.

Cavs will get rid of one aging center in Ben Wallace & pick up another with an even bigger price tag: $20 Million next season!

I hope Danny Ferry knows what he's doing... *sighs*

Sure the Cavs picked up an aging and expensive center but even at 38 Shaq is still better than anything the Cavs had at the position. Ben Wallace is talking about retiring, and he gave the Cavs absolutely NOTHING during the playoffs. People seem to forget that Shaq not only played in about 75 games, but averaged close to 18 points and 7 or so rebounds. Cleveland is trying to win now to appease Lebron and this was a good move. I still think they need an athletic big like a Rasheed Wallace. Worse case scenario and its not working, they can move Shaq's BIG EXPIRING CONTRACT at the trade deadline for a team looking to get under the cap. Bravo move Danny Ferry.

Ferry and Kerr were nice players, it will be interesting to see how this plays out, and who got the better of the deal.

....shaq has to "be the man" what wil lebron think, say & play?......

I Think back to that series and I think if Nick Anderson would have made the free throws that he missed in game one that Orland would have won the title.  To me that took them out to the series.

Only that one little thing costed them the title.

Rare grammatical error on your part, my dear...or were you "in the role"? ;)

Shaq is past his prime (way past), and will slow down the Cavs.  He might have been a good fit a few years ago, but now he'll just clog up the middle for LeBron.

If he stays in shape he will be under.

On a side note:  I don't think Shaq ever weighed more than 325.

He won his 4th ring with D Wade simply to show up Buss and Kobe. He reported to camp in shape and was a force in the middle.

That being said, I also think he is too old to repeat that scenario with Lebron.

Gonna be a blast watching the NBA next year. The Celts will be back at full strength, the Magic has something to prove and the Cavs have their new dynamic duo. The 3 of them will duke it out in the East and the Lakers will be waiting for the last one standing.

Actually, if the Lakers sign both Odom and Ariza, I do not see them having any trouble winning another championship.

As much as I loved the seven second Suns, I knew they would never win it all, and it was never more clear than last year.

It's a pity that defense wins championships, though, because the Suns in 2004-2007 were the most enjoyable thing in basketball, by far.

Other than you in your (grumble) Laker outfit, that is. ;)

As unfair as it sounds, Mike Brown is on the hot seat now. If they don't win it all next year, Brown will probably be fired, and Lebron may very well leave for greener pastures. They still need a big #2 guard who can shoot and play defense. At least Ilgauskas has a mid-range jumper that kept teams from clogging the middle. Shaq is useless outside of 5 feet.

Nets get Rafer Alson and Courtney Lee. Give it to the Magic for responding to the Shaq trade. As a Laker fan I am going to enjoy watching the Celtics, Cavs and Magic beat the crap out of each other next year. The East will finally be fun to watch. This should give the Lakers the incentive to resign Odom and Ariza.

So where does Nash go? Will he be reunited with D'Antoni?

Everyone in Phoenix is waiting to see what Nash does. Nash is waiting for the draft and any other moves, so the Suns make. Amare has been very quite and no one knows how his eye is healing.

I think Shaq is a great edition.  Hopefully he's not like Bynum and hurt over half the year.  :D

It was time for Shaq to go, it just didn't work here in Phoenix.  Hopefully his game will match better in Clevland.  I wonder if Steve Nash is being consulted on these moves by the Suns.  I don't think Nash thought it was working with Shaq. To see Amare also being trading makes you wonder if its just for financial reasons or is it time to start over.  I hope Steve Kerr knows what he is doing, so far he has failed us Suns fans.
