I'll be staying downtown near the Convention Center. Any decent bars, nightclubs, etc
I'm a 42 year old African-American from the East Coast...if that helps any...Seattle HAS ALMOST ZERO NIGHTLIFE! Especially since you are coming between football and baseball seasons. The 'nightclubs are all on 1st or up on Capitol Hill (just N of the convention center). That said, however, it is almost impossible to find critical mass anywhere downtown other than Fri- Sat evenings. Pesos is a small bar in Queen Anne (downtown Seattle off Mercer), that often has about 50-75 people most evenings. Capitol Hill also has a few places that may attract a few people here and there. On Tuesdays, Havana's in Capitol Hill has quite a lot of people.
Again, Seattle has the least amount of general 'nightlife" of any city I have ever lived in by several orders of magnitude. I am sure you will find most places (excepting Havanas, and smaller bars), either shut down or deserted by 10 pm every evening but Fri-Sat.I'm a 42 year old African-American from the East Coast...if that helps any...

Rock & Roll, head south to Tacoma and check out "The Swiss" or over in Freemont, "The High Dive"
See how he is talking about "the weekend"?? Try to do that inthe perimeters of downtown and on a non weekend night.
Muckleshoot couldnt be more ghetto excepting Sat pm.
If you do drive to tacoma, make sure to bring your bodyguards.....for a moderate perspective with a huge sample, try Yelp.com
