I am one of those hobbyists who are limited to lunch hour dates. (In that sense, I envy the single hobbyists who can schedule dates at their leisure.) (Oh, and can an English major check the grammar of that first sentence? I'm not sure if "are" or "is" should be used. LOL)
I am wondering if there are other, more creative, yet non-suspicious excuses to get away and see a provider. Stretching a lunch to 1 1/2 to 2 hours is easy to get away with if done infrequently enough, but perhaps there are other ways that I haven't thought about to get out and hobby. Faking needing to go to work on a weekend can also only work so many times.

Anywho, I get away with it because I own my own business and can come and go any daytime. I can do an occasional Saturday. Evenings are out, however,I have joined a group that meets once aweek at night. Then I can sometimes pretend to go there and sneak away.
She'll never check and if you really want to have a guys day out, get a buddy to cover, cover for him, and get the room/girls together. When she nags about spending time with him, you won't feel guilty about cheating.
Just need to be creative.1. Out with the guys. 2. Ball game, baseball, football, hockey, soccer. (Great for multiple hour fun) 3. Working late. 4. Take a college course at night and drop the first week (A whole semester of fun). Fishing trip (when you're done and go home early just say "they weren't biting". Just the tip of the iceberg BK. All excuses have multiple variations that will make them applicable to your particular situation and SO's suspicion level. These are free. The rest will cost $10 a piece. CC's accepted
Hey, I'm no English major but I think you should use "is" because one is singular.
Do you play any sports? If not get involved. Basketball, softball... whatever. That will give you some extra time to hobby on the weekends. Works for me.
Set up a consulting business on the side, get a few real clients to show a little extra income (helps with the hobby funds) and then make a couple visits to your "special clients" when you are supposedly meeting with others.
meeting the CPA for taxes, meeting the financial planner, helping a work collegue on a deadline, shopping for a gift for an un-mutual friend, the old reliable oil change and auto work....
Tell her you're going out to get laid! Sounds like she'll never believe that one!

As long as she won't want to join you, join a gym and use that as an excuse to buy a couple of hours on a frequent basis. Golf is something that can give you an excuse for a missing few hours as well. Once again, you can say it's something the the new year inspired you to take up.

I may be taking a trip to the Northwest soon, so I should be able to sample some of Oregon's or Washington's finest. 
An excuse to get away for 2-3 hours is pretty easy...as mentioned above, hobbies, auto repair(a good stand by), work meetings, going to the gym, etc. all work well. Personally, I think keeping the reasons for leaving varied is the safest (less chance of getting stuck in a pattern). However, the much more challenging issue is "Hey Gordo, where's the $$$$ cash you took out of the checking account???". Skimming $20 to $40 at a time takes forever, you can only have so many "emergency auto repair" expenses, etc. What does everybody else do if your SO takes a keen interest in the home finances?
Pray that she doesn't develop an interest in the finances. If she does, deflect it or delay it until you can pass through a few statements without any large withdrawals.
Or, get a credit card, have them NOT send you paper statements, and pay it through bill payer from your bank. That way, the only way it gets discovered is if she gets at the e-statement online.

The best excuses are ones that don't involve friends/family that can later trip you up. Evening appointmnets are tough, but on the weekends when I want to get away I tell my wife I have an errand to run. Several hours later I come back bearing a present for her that I had purchased earlier in the week on my lunch break. She gets lots of presents which she likes and it takes away my guilt at the same time! You can use this excuse with anything, you don't have to always buy her a present. Just always pre-purchase the item and then when you get back home after your appointment you have something to show for the lost hours.
I can't seem to recall when the state of my finances became my SO's business!
Same here. I guess that I am lucky in the fact that my SO has never seen a statement. Well, she has, but was unable to decipher it. Besides, there was nothing really unusual on it.
I take it one step further, as the address associated w/my CC is a PO Box. I keep the CC and the PO Box key at work.
Of course, the fact that my Xmas bonus is paid in cash doesn't hurt either.
My SO.com is the same. She is unable to decypher the statements nor had she had serious interest in knowing about it. However, events, such as a death in the family, may prompt some SO's to think that they should know about the finances and how to balance the accounts in case you kick the bucket.
In that case, the large $$$ withdrawals would raise some suspicion. I think at that point, you may opt to feign having another vice, like gambling or something. LOL

Also, after a relative kicks the bucket, some SO's may feel obligated about asking about inheriteance. Recently, a good deal of money came my way bacause of this. Fortunately, my SO never even asked about the possibility of me getting any money from this unfortunate incident. Now, I still spen a great deal on her, but some local providers also have profited from this. Hey, I had to get something for myself. LOL

Once they get onto the scent, it's probably too late. And, believe it, they will get onto the scent sooner or later, no matter the plan. It's just a matter of time delay before you start looking over your shoulder feeling the fork up your ass or, in the words of Myagi-San to Daniel-San. Bug go left side of road, Okay!
