Been thinking about my vulnerability using my personal phone while hobbying. I've experienced some problems doing so with people being able to find out a lot about me from just my cell number. I'm sure many of you use burner phones for your hobbying related calls. I'm looking for recommendations on which burner I should buy and any other advice regarding staying safe when making calls.

I've had a tracfone for years.  $20 gets me talk and text for 3 months, reload with a phone card bought at a grocery store.  A little more if you want a data plan.

I turn my rl phone off as soon as I leave my home to avoid Google tracking my location.

After more research I've decided to try a burner "app" on my phone. $5/mo. So far it seems to accomplish what I'm looking for. Using "Burner".

Ten years ago (maybe twelve) I had a TracFone burner, it was basic talk and text, no internet access.  It was just as economical as yours, so it serves its purposes for that point in time.

Like an idiot, instead of staying with that company and merely upgrading the phone, I opted to scrap it and go for an Android smartphone by some obscure company.  That was about two years ago. I now have internet access along with the basic phone service, but under a new telephone number. Meh, no big deal, I transferred my contacts and mostly I'm the one doing the initial calling, not receiving the calls.

I would NEVER use my personal smartphone for ANYTHING involving my clandestine activities. It seems like playing with fire, because nothing is ever completely erased or deleted, and if a search is made by some expert who knows what he or she is doing, your track record can be uncovered much to your surprise.

I don't even call one phone on the other, I create no nexus whatsoever between the two. No email messages between them, no websites nor searches on common, nothing.

Imagine hearing this:

"Honey, why is there a search on your phone for 'Burner phone recommendations' and who is 'ready69'?"

I use the Sideline app on my iPhone to conduct all business. I can receive and send/make texts and calls through the app and was able to choose my phone number when I first subscribed. It has access to all my contacts and recently search functionality was  added.

The cool thing is that if you have someone else assisting with your bookings, you can set up your phone line as a team number, which enables the same line to be accessed from multiple phones.  The full history is available to everyone with  access to the team number. Basically, you can have someone else responding to texts on your behalf and stay informed about where things stand.

I've been using the service for 3 years and have had no issues with reliability.
