I require a minimum of 1000 set aside to set it up (location, food, drinks: obviously won't cover, but…)

Yes, I have the funds, but no, I haven't been seeing my "main squeeze" so my funds must be directed to my savings account (my minimum monthly saving amount must be met to feel in control of the "retirement" phase somewhere down the road).

The good news there is potential for a social event in October.
Stay tuned.

It is all determinate upon me having extra funds in case the turn out is poor

I would love to attend whatever the venue/size - the big pool party followed by a ball proposed earlier in the summer sounds fantastic, but it would be costly.  A more private event would definitely be more affordable - it sounds like bond007 has had lots of success with big events in LA, and charged a healthy admission (up to $100).  I would be fine with that, but a smaller, well-screened event (to assure Goldie that people would show up) could be cheaper per guy (maybe $50?) and still a lot of fun.  Or maybe bond007 could help sponsor a SD event?

For my events, the charge to the gents has always been $40.  Never higher than that.
