Ayana Angel? also a lot of great locals with outstanding reveiws? Yes... there is a great difference in price...is there a great difference in talent?...and if yes...am I taking advantage of it if this is my first time (in the hobby!)?
Take this for what it's worth.
I've been hobbying for several years with regular escorts, and I find that many of those regulars are just as beautiful as the PSE's, and some regulars are better looking than some PSE's, so, as far as looks and bodies go, they can be the same. But I think that, on average, PSE's are better looking, simply because they have had to go through a screening process with the producers - if they're fat and ugly or even average-looking, they won't make the cut. And, believe me, at some regular agencies, they can hire fat and ugly ones.
But looks aren't the only criteria. Hobbying is as much as social and psychological occasion as it is a physical one, and I have enjoyed my interactions with my GFE's over the years, and I think that my life would have been a lot poorer without them. If you want to do this regularly, then you should ensure that your regular will provide a GFE. In the regular market, most do, and some don't. The PSE's, by contrast, almost all do.
Now, everything else equal (looks and social interactions), there is one other factor: glamor. I have decided to go upscale to PSE's simply because they are far more glamorous, and, all things equal, glamor costs money. You can't expect Britney Spears (assuming she ever did want to do this) to charge the same as a regular, and you won't get a PSE to do the same either.
I've only had one PSE so far, Sara Jay, and I will say that she will offer quality service. My previous regulars also did so, but, in the regular market, it can be hit-and-miss - I often had to look around quite a bit before I could find one that I like. IOW, PSE's can be better looking and provide better service, and, if you want the same from a regular, you have to shop around a bit.
If you're living in South Florida, and you can afford it, why not try both? I don't know any regular escorts in Florida, but I'd suggest Jennifer Steele for your first PSE - I haven't had a session with her (yet), but I've communicated with her, and I've seen her posts, and I'm satisfied that she is also a quality gal. So try a regular - go to an incall so you can see what you're going to get - and then e-mail a PSE for your first session with glamor.

I disagree to a point...
I've been with non-PSE ladies who were VERY beautiful and glamourous... more so than many pornstars. And I know to each his own, but there are many PSEs out there that I find very plain, especially a lot of the gonzo girls. That's one of the reasons I usually am drawn to more mature pornstars like Kathy Willets, Keisha and Taylor Wayne. They know HOW to be glamorous, something a lot of the younger and newer ladies don't, having never been exposed to the big budget shoots of the "good old days" of porn.
My reason for seeing pornstars is primarily the fantasy aspect. I'm getting to be with ladies I've watched on video and do the same things to them and with them that I've whacked off to while watching their flicks... If there's a particular pornstar I enjoy, I tend to buy many of their dvd's, and those are the ladies I want to meet. For example, Nikita Denise is gorgeous and from what I've heard wild, but for whatever reason she's never done a lot for me; I don't own any of her movies, and I don't have a pressing desire to meet her... it has nothing to do with her glamour or preformance. It has everything to do with the fantasy of who I'm with.
That, plus the fact that most of the pornstars will allow me to videotape our time together, something very few non-pornstar providers will.

But I don't know if a regular escort can be "glamorous" in the sense that a well-known porn actress can be "glamorous" - the regular can be well dressed and play the role, but, to me, "glamor" must include some measure of fame.
But everyone has different criteria, I guess.
I tend to agree with the Wizard - why not both? For my first few times I chose local b/c of what I call the "getting comfortable with the hobby" factor. A combination of anxiety, stage fright, and maybe some justifying having to pay for companionship I suppose.
Maybe I'm just a wimp. Follow your mind.
My first Local was well reviewed especially in the helping you relax areas. I saw her until she feel off the planet, but I also saw others until I was "ready for the pros". And Pros, they are.
Maybe you're not like me and feel like you can go long on the best in the league (Nina Dolci for me) on the first play of the game. I say winning is just as sweet throwing short over the middle (outstanding local gal) before that final Hail Mary.
I would definetly go local the first time just for the experience. On your first date you will be nervous, you will be sweating, you might even be tongue tied, and this will effect the session. The more at ease you are, the more at ease she will be. So ease into the hobby without spending big bucks until you feel comfortable. Find a great GFE like Alexandria and you will have a great time.
