Porn Stars

Is OnlyFans porn?

I ask this question because I've noticed that several providers also have their own OF profiles. And of course they're making money by posting their own photos and videos there.

As it was explained to me, OnlyFans began as a way for pornstars to share (distribute?) and monetize the photos and videos that they produced on their own with their fans.

So, does this mean that the providers who are on OF are trying to break into the porn business?
Here are 2 examples for why I'm asking this.

One of the more successful adult entertainers on OF is CJ Miles. I've been aware of her for over a decade. I first met CJ just after she arrived in LA from the Philippines. She was Francine Dee's protégé. Like Francine, she was an import car model, then transitioned into exotic dancing (stripping) and eventually porn (she had a multi-year exclusive contract with Brazzers, but she was able to buy-out because of her OF income).
CJ has shared in many interviews that her OF profile actually generates several Millions of dollars for her! Currently, her OF income affords her the lifestyle to travel the world as one of the most famous adult entertainers on the planet. (tho she doesn't really do much porn anymore)

Another example, tho not quite as extravagant as CJ Miles, is Alexa. She's a former popular San Diego provider. A few years ago, she moved to Florida [creating 2 successful OF profiles].
Initially, Alexa was using her OF profile to supplement her provider revenues. She posted photos of herself in high fashion or nude. Then, she posted videos of herself doing different...activities (like pleasuring herself). She eventually included videos of her with her clients in various sexual acts and positions.
Once her OF profiles began generating significantly more income, she's retired from being a provider.

Obviously, these 2 women are the exceptions.
The majority of providers on OF are never going to achieve the same remarkable success as either CJ Miles or Alexa.

I don't know but ... Once companies, mainstream or porn, identify "influencers" with lots of clicks on the internet I think they seek them out for paid positions, either on their backs in videos or for their endorsements or even more proactive promotions.
.
So, my guess is that a popular Porn Star can find monetization on OF and that a popular not-yet-porn player on OF can be tempted to get into porn (which will then promote her OF in a rotary feedback loop).
.
Just my opinion, not a well researched statement of fact or conclusion.

Thank you for your response.

I started this thread because this topic really confuses me.
It's because OF began as a means for porn stars to creatively and financially control their own content.

However, now that hundreds of providers are now using OF for the same reasons, does this now make them porn stars, too?

I really hope this discussion will continue...

Just because someone has an OnlyFans page does not make that person a porn star.

When that person wakes up, drives to a studio, sits in a makeup chair, selects an outfit from the wardrobe dept, walks onto a set, hears someone say "Action!", delivers some lines from a script, and then gets naked and fucks in front of 50 people, THEN that person is a porn star.

Yes. Anybody that says otherwise is delusional.

No it’s not, now some providers would claim that it is just so they can put on their profile pornstar to get more business and charge more, even though some providers already charging what pornstars charge, anyway it’s a big difference in onlyfans videos and porn videos done by professionals, most of the girls who has a onlyfans page sucks when it comes to making videos!

Maybe back in the day there was a short time when star (as in movie star) meant a particularly popular actor or actress.  But eventually it came to include anyone acting in front of the camera in more than a bit role -- for that specific production.  aka a "starring role."
.
OF girls are usually the main character in their own productions and if it is of sexual nature (aren't they all) it's porn and therefore she is a porn star by the common vernacular.

If people are paying for it and the gal is gaining popularity, the term porn star definitely applies.

If she isnt popular, you have seen the gal in porn, but not a star.

Being in a studio means jack shit these days.

The rules have changed boys.
