What are your favorite internet porn sites to watch videos?  There are a ton of them.  Is there an X-rated version of YouTube?

Tube sites suck! Tube, torrent and password sharing sites have killed the porn business. It offends me when someone tells me that they are a huge fan and yet don't watch my scenes on anything other than tube sites.

Now my favorite porn sites/studios would be my own DanielleFTV, FTVGirls, anything from Kink, Evil Angel and Elegant Angel.

It is not just that they having an economic effect on the profitability of producing 'new' content in porn...

Porn is already becoming a small part of producing 'sexual-related content, so tube site will recycle crap after crap to stay alive...

The real effect is that they are creating a gigantic mass of 'incompetent', 'ignorant' and totally clueless consumers, whom understanding of porn, porn stars and everything else is erased to ZERO.

A jerk off population, that's the ONLY product of tube sites.

BM

Once the industry embraced all gonzo, which happened before the tube sites, it showed they were just interested in shoveling out as much weak content as cheaply as possible and taking advantage of as many clueless 18 year olds as possible.

Tough for me to have much sympathy for the porn industry.

Sounds a lot like you understand economics 101 even less well than most. It is precisely because they are informed that consumers are able to get porn for free.  Are you seriously suggesting that you would continue to pay for ice cream and beer if they were being given away for free?  Would that make you a rational consumer or a chump? I totally get the anger if you're a performer or a producer of content that's been hijacked but I'm not sure that's what's sticking in your craw.  The lack of ununderstanding  you bemoan comes across more like an "everyone else is stupid but me" rant that does little to advance an argument you have failed to articulate.

I understand at least at a conceptual level the idea of the tragedy of the commons but that's not what we have here. There isn't a resource being overconsumed because it's free. What's happening is that the business is struggling to find a new model to make itself sustainable.  This is not the first and will not be the last business to encounter wrenching disruption. But even the music business is slowly but surely figuring out a new business model for the future in the age of the internet. And in fact there are more than a few women who have figured out how to make money with live streaming sites.of their own.

And with regard to protecting someone's intellectual property you won't find a stronger advocate than me. So if copyrighted material is being pirated I too want the content immediately removed from the offending sites and the transgressors punished.  But short of that bitching about it, and holier than thou maligning of viewers is unlikely to change anything.

Good point.  What about Mercedes Ashley at www.mercedesashley.com ?
She's really focused on educating herself about various platforms and has developed a functioning business model.  At one time she used to answer all her emails personally, and I've had some great conversations with her.
To other commentators, I'd say don't blame tube sites.  Blame the sexual attention span of the average male.  Its kind of like comparing a fast food restaurant with a fine dining experience (great imagery comes to mind).  For a quick fix, or to survey the talent and current trends I'd go to www.nudevista.com or www.tubegalore.com
But to explore a star's personality and assets a little more, the sites mentioned in this thread offer some great experiences.  And then there are online industry survey sites like www.avn.com
Technology has gone through incredible changes in my lifetime.  I grew up in the 70s in the days when a teenager (me) couldn't access "dirty films" easily.  Penthouse and Hustler magazines were pretty much the only content available.  Later in my twenties I'd go to peep shows and XXX Movie Theaters.  After the initial thrill, I started noticing old guys jacking off and other guys looking for a quick same-sex HJ or BJ.  And in the dark theater, I always wondered if the seat was clean.  In my thirties I bought my own videos and DVDs and enjoyed in the privacy of my room.  Today access to porn is unparalleled and it must be admitted that the consumer is overwhelmed by a flood of crappy sites, dead ends and the chance of getting your computer infected.  This kind of reflects the hobbying scene too.  Lots of robs, underperformers, chances for infection, and so on.  Hence the need to research carefully and choose wisely.  My thanks to the genuine commentators and hobbyists here and elsewhere who've helped me avoid some pitfalls and have a whole lot of fun.
A final reflection.  I remember seeing an interview with a lawyer for Vivid - possibly on 60 Minutes a while back.  The quote that stuck in my mind was his statistic: that on average porn movies are accessed and viewed for a maximum of seven minutes.  I keep on thinking, all that artistic talent wasted!

Indeed, the plot-oriented genre in porn are got into a resurgent wave later, exactly because of the tube sites...

The tube sites decimate the low-end production, production with low-content value...

The high end production, from Wicked to New Sensations, and the various niches that cater to educated porn consumers, has actually continued to do well, and the rise of the porn parodies genre as off set the decrease of gonzo stuff.

In between there is lots of stuff, but what the point of arguing when people have no idea but porn coming from tube sites?

That's the real problem.

Sincerely,
BM

Fortunately there is a part of the population that understand that you should pay for porn. I always give my appreciation to people when they point out that they do pay for porn.

You are correct that gonzo preceded tube site, but the gonzo you see in the tube site is generally the one with low-value content. That's the type of gonzo that is so predominant over tube sites.

Gonzo-type of porn has very different value in terms of content: High value content is the one produced by - just to make an example among many - Jules Jordan and its numerous affiliated directors (from Lisa Ann to Christ Streams, from Erik Everhard to Jenna Haze), which is totally different from the gonzo-amateurish produced by hundreds of small companies. Location, talent, stills, camera work, etc. are not the same.

This high end value type of gonzo is not weak at all, indeed is the one that dominate all selling and renting charts on AVN and other trade porn-related publications.

Its the low-end type of gonzo that you see in hundreds of tube site that is based on taking advantage of 'clueless 18 years old.'

If you do not see the difference between the different type of content produced by the so-called
gonzo, then its easy to react the way you do.

Sincerely,
BM

You cannot be in favor of protecting's intellectual property and at the same time arguing that it is rational from a consumer stand point get 'free porn.'

For one, getting 'free porn' is in about 99 out of 100 cases a violation of intellectual property. torrent software and web browser, or other internet downloading software, file sharing and other similar engineered software were developed to 'steal' other property. That property is protected by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), and a such each 'uploading' is a copyright infringement.

So what is the rational here? The rational, according to your logic, is that consumers get 'free stuff' and that the opportunity cost of getting 'free stuff' is more competitive than 'paying.' But if the production of content on tube site is not production, but 'stealing' then the rationality of the getting the lower opportunity cost by consuming free porn is the rationality of consuming 'a stolen' good in the market.

So you cannot at the same time argue about both. If you want to protect property, in a profit-driven economy, like capitalism, then 'stealing' is not a rational opportunity cost approach, because this rationality is driving porn production cost out of the market, substituting 'copy' content for 'original' content, a substitution that has no economic return but 'stealing.'

Free porn tube sites and the Internet is a copyright-infringement machine. The economic logic underpinning this machine is that - to use a quote from Freekonomics - "Consumers will pay less, and get more."

So or you take out of your argument the copyright protection or you go with the 'pay less and get more'.

Not both.

Sincerely,
BM

PS: I attach the piece from Freaknomics, blog, where to law scholars argue about the fact that tube site will change porn business, but will not kill pornography.

The idea of arguing for IP yet understanding the way the system works to copy something has long existed in US generic drug companies.

Btw, take some of the perks you're being paid and get yourself a dictionary.

That would be a lot of laughing...

PS: Generic drug companies are in India, and Pfizer has a monopoly and spent millions of dollars in prosecuting copyright infringement, until these 'shadow' companies agree on selling 'modified branded' drugs...

This analogy, tell us again, that your understanding of porn is, well, that of school teacher.

In regard to Mindgeek: They control all the free tube site, and they are being submerged by lawsuit for copyright infringements, to the point that they were forced to change name for repercussion in business branding of the company (Manwin), reduce production, cut employees everywhere and take the low road.

The porn industry has been slow to respond, but it taking care of business now. And there is not much to be laughing about.

Bottom line: You have no argument...

So you play the card of the 'hidden agenda', which is usually the ONLY argument that an idiot can make when there is nothing left in his brain.

Ergo: You are not just a kindergarten chatterbox, but a paranoid one.

That's easy to explain: If you spent your time - like you do - on TER, where in just 14 months you have 1600 post (between the GD and NYC boards), which make an average of about 4 posts at day, then what can your brain be, if not that of an idiotic chatterbox, who talk about anything and everything, for nothing but the sake of its own entertainment dementia?
