Mixed feelings...

...haven't visited the board for several days and just read of Doc's resignation as board moderator.  I have mixed feelings about this...while Doc had tremendous knowledge and great enthusiasm about this aspect of the hobby and was a wealth of information, I don't feel a board moderator should be posting something like someone is "a CHEAP asian abuser and bastard....SCREW HIM."  That he feels he needs to terminate any association with this site seems a bit petulant.  I would hope that after he cools off he might reconsider and realize that being a contributor to this board is a better role for him than that of board moderator.  But somehow I doubt it will happen.

his enemy, NYC's etellier.  Yes, the word is strong and some might be offended.  However, etellier also publicly accused Doc as a "shill - pure and simple" in the National board yesterday.

Moderator got lots of accusation throw at them.  A few weeks ago, the mod in Twin City was accused by a lady as biased and is another lady's puppet (I am paraphrasing).  Just earlier this month, Thirsty, the mod of Boston board was publicly questioned by some members only because he wanted to shield a member from barrage of demands that he disclosed the name of a lady that stood him up.

.......even without your hero. You sound almost enamored with him. Maybe you should inquire about his rates and services?

Just keeping things lite,

Girl Crazy, he's right.  Get on with life!  With all your posts about how things are going downhill since Doc has left (complete with statistics), it's like you are trying to cause dissention among the board to bring him back (are you really Doc under a different alias?)

I just noticed that he was getting a little arrogant and just lacked tact.  Sure it gets annoying seeing some of the same questions, but it's only annoying if you're on the board every single day (day and night).  Maybe he needs to spend more time away from the boards (and even from hobby) so he doesn't take himself too seriously.  Sure it's nice that he can spend $40,000+ a year on the hobby,  but I would take 38 other reviewers with social tact (who spend only $1500 a year on the hobby) over him.

Noone's totally irreplaceable.  People collectively will pick up the slack with info.

Full speed ahead....

matter, I have never claimed that Doc was mistreated by TER and called for his return.  I knew that this is part of Staff's decision and I respect that.  I just want to show appreciation for a moderator's work in a discussion board.  I believe I have only initiated 2 threads here and 1 in the National board.  Other posts are just my own opinion and responses to other's comments.  It is just some exchange of ideas and I don't think I have made any inflamed comments or undue accusations.

I have no communication with Doc at all and I don't get any benefit from my comments.  I don't have much experience with PS and I doubt I will start anytime soon.

There are less than 10 TER members that know my true TER handle. Most of my exchanges with members are through messages posted on the board and LA chat.

Well, I do take things too seriously at times.  I am sure you guys are sick and tired of reading my posts. :-)

Enough said.  As you say, life goes on.

Have fun.

How about this for a rule regarding a new moderator (since people have differing opinions)....

The moderator's job is strictly to read and review posts for content and apply the rules of the staff by either accepting the post or deleting it.  In turn, the moderator is to remain completely anonymous and is NOT allowed to post anything on the boards himself!

To me that seems to make one impartial... we can even go as far to say that the moderator should not be a provider OR a hobbyist!

Watchya think???

I don't know who then you think you'll get.  Girl Next Door does a wonderful job moderating the LA and Nat'l boards (and probably a few others).  She makes contributions, gives info, and yes, does moderate when necessary.  I have no clue who she is, but it is my understanding she is a provider (but I can't remember where I heard that).  A good moderator just needs to avoid taking sides and allow "discussion" to take place.

I believe it was Staff's idea that Doc no longer moderate.
