It is ironic that a cartoon on the cover of
"the new yorker" (a some would argue 'liberal publication') depicting Obama as a muslim and his wife as a terrorist would spin out of control.  Oft, I have watched liberal cartoons depicting the right as everything from baby-killers to the promoters of activities something similar to what happened in Hitler's Germany in the late 1930's and early 1940's.  I have been called (on this discussion board) a racist - although I am not, but because of my belief that we enforce the laws of the land (within this country) first and take care of our own with education and appropriate assistance, then we worry about the immigrants, and Brangalina's latest cause second (or maybe even third or 4th).  Well, the loss of self discipline and respect now "comes home to roost" (please excuse the reference to Wright) in liberal land.

We have long so taught ourselves that our freedom of speech means the freedom of disrespect and disgusting behavior that when something of this sort happens, it is shocking ONLY because a liberal was attacked, or more accurately feels disrespected.

I respect any man (or woman) who runs for the office of president - if only because they are willing to put themselves through the electron microscopic examination of their lives, and the lives of their parents.  And that takes courage.

This stuff needs to stop - we need to not do this to politicians - cause if we keep it up, we're gonna just keep getting worse candidates for office than the previous lot.... or the current lot.

Why am I angry about this?  for what it says about obama... no, that is not the reason, it is simply because it is disrespectful of the man, and his wife.  They did nothing to deserve this.  and they (IMHO) are due an apologie by the magazine, the editor, and the cartoonist....

There are limits of decency that should be honored.

this is too funny. this isn’t even satire of Obama! It makes fun of the right wing, but i'm sure (like BK said) it hurt a lot of dems' feelings.

when Hillary was the victim of continual, unending satire, misogyny and hate by all segments of the media… None of these pundits, anchorpeople, party leaders, etc., all who are decrying the New Yorker today ever once came to the defense of Hillary Clinton. there were a lot of despicable satire directed at her.

obama's chickens are coming home to roost! George W. never sent operatives to hound a magazine that satirized him!

Think you live in a political state now?
Just pray Barack Hussein Obama is never your dear leader. Criticize his ASS and you will be OUT OF BUSINESS in no time!!

cartoon lampoons - it draws attention away from the real issues - and promotes a stereotype - both of Obama AND those who may wish others to be POTUS....  Read the article contained within the issue... Making It (How Chicago shaped Obama)by Ryan Lizza.  That is where the focus should have been.

To continually 'sling' shit - is to get what we deserve... again - read what I wrote.
