This was one courageous gentleman/leader.

Sincerely,

...from Mandela.  Not only did he forgive his oppressors, he made peace with them and then embraced them.  Do you think the Dems and the GOP could do that?  The swinging dicks on this board hold grudges forever.

One of them is, Apartheid was a government mandated policy....and now it is not..

...ain't no grudges here hoss - or is it haus - or hase? ;) ...not that I thought you were referencing me.

I think South Africa racial history parallels ours in many ways. The differences are mainly in "degree" as opposed to "direction". One huge difference is that South Africa appears to be nearer a reconciliation and mutual acceptance and appreciation than we are. We seem to have taken a few steps backward in the last decade and just because we have a Black dude occupying the WH Is of little consolation to the victims of racism. Maybe our system of checks and balances means the slowing of ALL change... good AND bad. Our system apparently requires a great deal of fortitude and patience to drive and receive change. But quick change tends to be shallow in nature... ours must be very very deep.

Don't lump me into that category. My acceptance of all people, isn't rooted in the checks and balances of our system...What exactly were you trying to convey with this post?
