The selection of POTUS Obama as the recipient  the Nobel Peace Prize has played to some painfully bad notices among many regulars in the TER PNR audience.  Some have even criticized it to the point of mockery and scorn. Not even the most fleeting, reflecsive surge of primitive and atavistic national pride could be detected among the disgruntled conservos.  It's hard for a USAer to win that award, and I thought that some of the conservos would exhibit just the tiniest amount of national pride in the rare feat of a fellow countryman being so honored by those damn socialist, appeasement-minded cowardly europeans.  But apparently not. Fair enough, i say.

But let me ask you: If not Obama, then who?  Please share with us who you think ought to have received the NPP this year instead of Obama.

The rules are simple :

1. persons only - please do not offer the names of NGOs and other institutions [for example RXs Without Frontiers,Aamnesty International, the National Lawyers Guild, the Federalist Society, NAMBLA, etc..];

2. your recipient must have made the bulk of his/her world peace contributions since 1950;

3. tell us why this person's activities merit a NPP.  You can also go out on a limb and tell us why they are superior, IYHO, to those for which POTUS Obama was cited;

4. if you choose an obsurco individual[this is all relative of course] please provide some biographical data.  A fast link to Wikipedia will suffice;

5. if you think no one was worthy, it's OK to share that with us.  I encourage you to get in touch with your feeling here.

Personally, i'm looking for a lot of unusual choices here, and I've recruited and deputed a few trusted lurkers to be on the lookout for irony and sarcasm, because I've come to know this audience all too well. I'm waiting for the characters who will ofer up such worthy names as George Soros, Vanessa Redgrave [that's the one I'd chose if I was spoofing], former VP Cheney, former POTUS Bush, and who knows else?

So, here it is guys, feel free to give it up.

What we saw today could have been a demonstration of the Nobel Committee accepting and practicing good ole’ U.S of A. AFFIRMATIVE ACTION.

Three cheers for U.S.
