What political party do you identify with?

In theory, I strongly agree with Noam Comsky's ideas about libertarian socialism and, like him, consider that the direction which traditional political liberalism (such as that of Thomas Jefferson) should move toward.

Practically, I identify with whichever party puts forward the policies which have been demonstrated to work better in balancing the competing goals of equity and individual freedom. Right now, that party is the democratic party.

Both are fujc*ed up parties. No ideas, no vision and talks nonsense.

I like Obama's plan of putting all bill on the Web for four days and getting feed back from the people before signing. If Obama can pull it that will change the 300 year old "you scratch my back and I scratch yours" kind of politics along with controlling lobbysts.

I support ideas not parties!

but with the recent election everyone has shown their hand at some point. I think I have a good idea on where everyone stands out of the regular PR posters.

Keep our freedom a much as possible.

Dems are kind of strange.  They want to rule from the heart and not the head.  The heart got us into this mortgage mess.  The gov mandated that poor credit risks be given mortgages..

The gov is forcing people not to smoke.   MONSTER TAXES ON TOBACCO.  MN has 70% tax on wholesale price of tobacco.

2nd hand smoke does not hurt people.  Bar owners should have a right to decide if they want smokers or not.

Dems are going to take away free speech!!!!.  Dennis Prager, Michael Medved, Rush Limbaugh and Michael Savage might be shut down with the fairness doctrine.

In Calif, they booted an art dude because he was against Gay Marrage.

Dems are intolerate of opposing views.  Dems are totalitarians I tell you.

DON'T BE A DEM.  BE A REPUBLICAN.

I did consider the Republican party.  I voted GOP about 35 to 40% of the time in the eighties (not for president, but in other races).

Then, the GOP dropped fiscal responsibility and de facto social libertarianism.  While castigating Democrats for being "tax and spend" liberals, they became "______ and spend" neocons.  They started trying to codify their nonsensical religious beliefs.  Republicans became hostile to the Constitution.  This progression culminated in the abject failure of the Bush administration backed by a sympathetic majority for six of the last eight years.

As soon as the GOP tells the christians to shut the fuck up and returns to the values of a Theodore Roosevelt, for example, I'll start voting republican occasionally, depending on the candidate.

I didn't see evidence of your observations during the mid 90's. It didn't really start until 2000.
