Protesting at a funeral, with no regard to the family's feelings. Even police commissioner William Bratton asked them not to do so, and many of them did so anyway. Sounds, to me, pretty immature on their part. As he pointed out, there were other venues much more appropriate, and I would have supported them in that, but not at a fallen brothers funeral. Did they even care how the families would be affected? Doesn't seem like it. And, that is who funerals are for; the families and very close friends.

The WBC shows at funerals for people they never knew and with whom they have no connection. They display placards saying “God hates fags” and “thank God for Dead soldiers” which are directly hurtful to the decedent’s family.
That seems far different to me from attending a funeral for slain brother officers and silently protesting against a mayor who made inflammatory statements that the Garner non- indictment was the product of racism, that he worries every day about the police killing his son, and who gave only a token response when a mob assaulted several police officers. The mayor is perpetuating the myth that the police as a whole are a threat to the black community and, even worse, is signaling that assaults on the police will not be taken seriously.And frankly I suspect the police families felt the same way as the protesting officers.

If police had ignored De Blasio's orders of jumping citizens committing minor infractions, Eric Garner would be alive, not strangled and dead .
I couldn't help but notice, there have been no citizen deaths by police, since NY police have ignored De Blasio's thug tactics of harassing citizens committing minor misdemeanors.

I served on many, many Color Guards, for deceased servicemen and women, and vets at the base I was stationed on, the first couple of years of my service. This was during the Viet Nam war. Despite the feelings of many attendee's, military and non-military, there were no acts of protest against the war, no President Johnson. Why? Because everyone there was there to pay their respect to the deceased and his or her family. Everyone behaved like the believed the internment of the fallen was sacred. I guess the reason I wanted the shock value is because of all these experiences and the desire to rip anyone's head off if they had dishonored the deceased and their families by making some form of protest. So, sorry if you were offended, but that's where I'm coming from. Like I said previously, I can support the police in their protests, but not at the funeral of the fallen.They should quit and another profession.

Serving the public is not their first priority. Maintaining order is their first responsibility, if your lifestyle coexists with the order of society, then the police serve the public.
