Is there no end to the madness.  Every darn where you read, somebody wants to take our money and use government power to do it.

I wonder how long it takes before we repeat the early days of our country's history... Just thinking...

Since you need this spelled out for you...from the article.

2nd paragraph. "Such a scheme". "Scheme" is a word used to indicate a negative connotation. "plan" is neutrual. The word is used more than once.

Fourth paragraph:

"WHO's so-called Expert Working Group"

"so-called" is used here solely to question the legitamacy of the WHO.

"to pony up more of the money".

is an interesting phrase itself. why not use the word "contribute" instead of "pony up"?

I could go on...

...so instead of trying to give yourself a pass based on bullshit, find another source. If the story is legit, then you'll be able to find one (assuming you're not too lazy to spend 10 minutes on a google search). If you can't find another source, then you know the story is bullshit.

I don't watch Fox or read Huffington or listen to smarmy talking heads on the radio.

But I do laugh my ass off at lame dittoheads spouting the latest mantra from the mighty Limbaugh Bullshit Machine. How any of you can claim any sort of moral high ground is a testament to the hypocritical hubris and cynical arrogance of the right wing and its de facto figurehead, Rush Limbaugh. Limbaugh is a pompous bloviating evil son of a bitch, but hes not stupid, although he relies on the limited intellect of his devotees to help spread his fetid form of racism and hatred.

Sadly, I find nothing funny about the the crap being expelled by the Obamabuttheads. The haters of the Limbaugh crowd may be full of shit and vinegar, but Obama's crowd is trying to steer a 4 masted schooner in choppy seas with no rudder and frayed sails. That's just stupid.

Politics has become a twisted game where the more evil and corrupt you are, the more likely you are to succeed. The United Nations long ago stopped being a diplomatic engine, and morphed into just another evil tool of the corrupt and powerful.

I give no credence to any of them, I have no respect for any of them. It's high time we took a wrecking ball to that waste of lovely Manhattan real estate called the United Nations. You could feed house and clothe the entire population of Haiti for a week on the money and energy frittered and wasted by that cesspool of international politics in just one lousy day.

But then, I'm merely stating the Obvious.

The U.N. has no ability to tax Americans, or anyone else for that matter. The U.N. doesn't have that power in their charter, and it isn't permitted under the US Constitution. Even if they tried to impliment it, they would have no power to enforce it.

It's depressing that you need this spelled out for you.

1. No, the article is not "bullshit."

       2. No, the UN is not proposing to "tax Americans."

        3. A working group of the World Health Organization is simply attempting to identify financing options to transfer drug-making research, development and manufacturing capabilities, among other things, to the developing world.

        4. Their idea for is  for member nations to tax their citizens and then to dedicate the tax revenues for this specific use. Although the report does not really address how the tax revenues get to WHO for implementation, apparently the idea is the member nations will pay over the tax revenues to the WHO each year.

      5. Why this approach? Well, voluntary contributions do not work that well - they are erratic and there is always some other need for the money.

      Now, do you have any problem with that?

The article is suggesting that "the UN is setting up a scheme" to tax the financial transactions of Americans. That's bullshit, period.

The US has long been erratic in it's contributions to the UN. I can't speak for other countries, because I'm not aware of their behavior on this.

We've been funding and hosting the UN since it's creation. Seeking a more stable way of contribution to the UN hardly counts as a scheme. Hell, it's hardly news.

The World Health Organization has NO POWER TO TAX. Period. End of story.

Individual governments have no power to impose a global consumer tax either.

You could consider taxing everyone on TER in order to increase your hobbying funds, but when you don't have that power then you're just talking out of your ass.

In this case, it's either Fox or the WHO who is talking out of their ass. Either or is equally as likely.
