Romney ad starring Jack Gilchrist says Obama said "If you have a business you didn't build it" but Obama went on to specify the help people have when they build a business that's undeniable, roads, bridges, the internet built by the government, or someone's help along the line.

Jack Gilchrist, the guy in Romney's new TV ad, of Gilchrist Metal Manufacturing in New Hampshire says:

“My father’s hands didn’t build this company? My hands didn’t build this company? My son’s hands aren’t building this company?”

"These Hands" starring Jack Gilchrist leaving key sentences out from Obama's speech that explained what he meant:

Not exactly Mr. Gilchrist . Not without help aplenty from your government, specifically $1,388,600.

Specifically Gilchrist held out his hands and got:

1999 “received $800,000 in tax-exempt revenue bonds issued by the New Hampshire Business Finance Authority ‘to set up a second manufacturing plant and purchase equipment to produce high definition television broadcasting equipment’…”

2011, Gilchrist Metal “received two U.S. Navy sub-contracts totaling about $83,000 and a smaller, $5,600 Coast Guard contract in 2008…”

1980s the company received a U.S. Small Business Administration loan totaling “somewhere south of” $500,000, and matching funds from the federally-funded New England Trade Adjustment Assistance Center.

Total Assisstance Mr. Gilchrist got for his business from the US government:

$1,388,600 or that ain't chickenfeed (Have you gotten over $1.3 million in help from anyone)?

What was not part of the commercial was Mr. Gilchrist's answer when this was pointed out to him later as to the over $1.3 million in help he got:

I’m not going to turn a blind eye because the money came from the government,” Gilchrest said. “As far as I’m concerned, I’m getting some of my tax money back. I’m not stupid, I’m not going to say ‘no.’ Shame on me if I didn’t use what’s available.”
