Tillerson as CEO of Exxon, has the business acumen Trump admires. I like that he's not a lifelong politician. I don't like how Tillerson has been in bed with Arab oil sheiks for 20 years or more going back to his time running Exxon's Russian interests.

Senator Bob Corker has the political groundgame and as the current Chair of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations brings background and experience.  

Either one would fit well in a Trump administration. Neither will sit well with the partisans.

Personal observation : I don't care one way or the other. I just want to be able to ride the open road and play music again and I'm in favor of whoever helps me get back to that. Everything else is a dose of I-Don't-Give-A-Fuck.

The Exxon complication should be easier to sell off and a blind trust could but the funds in Indexes. The Russian connection sounds like business as usual and shouldn't cause any conflict of interests. I'd rather see General Petreaus in that slot. Seems the only problem with Tillerson is a lack of experience in either state office or military. I'm pleased with Mattis as Secretary of Defense, just because from what I know about him he has a clear and precise idea as to what role the military ought to play in diplomacy. I feel Petraeus also has a degree of savvy about things that Trump knows very little about.

So far DT is able to get away with practically anything no matter how bizarre, brazen and undemocratic it may look. Do you think that he's actually going to have a press conference about how he's planning to separate his personal business from his upcoming job? I don't see it happening and I don't see him doing much in this regard anyway.  

At some point soon the US Congress would have to reassert its power over the president that more and more looks like a potential future dictator. Many Reps, let alone Dems feel very uncomfortable about this whole Russian thing: the way Russia swayed the election to Trump and Trump's neverending ass-kissing to Putin ("Do you wanna be my friend? I wanna be your friend! Come on, let's be friends - please please please please please!" That's at least how it sounds to me.)  

I mean even I - someone who thinks that current poor relations between America and Russia is 95% America's fault - am completely horrified by how easily Russia was able to tilt our elections to its preference and find Trump's in your face public courting of Putin disgusting.  

I think Tillerson's Order of Friendship provides Congress with an easy reference point which could grow into a position where it would make its stand.
