"This fact sheet summarizes key provisions in the Affordable Care Act that may affect small businesses and their employees. The fact sheet explains the law’s small business tax credits and the Small Business Health Options Program exchanges to be established in each state by 2014, both of which are designed to make it easier for small businesses to purchase insurance for their workers. The fact sheet also describes the penalties employers who employ more than 50 full-time workers would face if they do not offer affordable coverage starting in 2014; smaller employers are exempt from that requirement and would not face any penalties."

The fact remains  that Obama Care does nothing to reduce the cost of health care, it simply shifts the burden onto the backs of people like me.

No offense, but I plan on fighting back, and one of the ways I plan on fighting back is to pay for no one else's health care but mine and my  family's.

Even if I don't employ a single person, Obama care will still cost me at least a couple of hundred grand, just in the first four years of it's implementation.

Whether you need to employ more is up to you. When the time comes I can nail ACA info in detail as to what it would cost you. Without ACA your individual premiums for you and your family go up because the ins companies will pass it on and hospitals who are forced to pay so much for uninsured will charge you more.

There's been a $240 million misinformation campaign.

ACA and SB benefits don't really begin until 2014.
I know you're smart enough to see Romney and Ryan are refusing any answers to questions specific to ACA or Medicare.

And what isn't talked about is that governors like Perry, Deal, Jindal, and Haley will face tremendous pressure to take the $40 billion in Ga. & more in Texas because Texas isn't going to let their integral teaching hospitals that are invaluable on so many levels like Parkland and M.D.Anderson  close and Emory won't  let that happen to Grady nor MCG to its teaching hospitals in Augusta and now Athens either. The pt. volume is only going to increase for them in the coming years.

Watch GOP governors cave on this soon.

No way you could tell me how ACA costs you more money.

Read the .pdf I linked on answers to tax credits for small businesses. It's non-partisan, detailed, and very good.

...how do you figure that the ACA will cost you a couple hundred grand, even with no employees? I just don't get how you've come up with that number. Would you be willing to explain your math?

It will also impact anyone else who sells a house, does good in the stock market, or comes into any type of windfall.

There are other costs that people like Jeff, in their eagerness to defend this horrible plan, just seem to gloss over. but this is just the most obvious and egregious example that I can point to.

Now in case some of you can't do the math, let's suppose I already pay 40% of my income in taxes, this alone represents a 10%  increase in my annual tax bill.

As I have said before, I really don't care for Romney, but this is reason enough for me to vote for him.

and I really wish people would stop calling Obamacare "health care reform" it doesn't REFORM anything, it simply shifts the burden onto people like me, while not doing anything to lower actual health care costs, or rein in any the abuses in the healthcare provider/insurance company collusion that presently exists. Let's just call it what it is, "Socialized medicine"

The 3.8% tax applies to unearned income when your AGI is over $250,000. Let's also say that the tax applies to the portion of unearned income that is over $250,000.

So if you are thinking you are paying an extra $50,000 in tax because of this the amount of income being taxed is 50,000/.038 = $1,315,000 and some small change for each of the next four years.

40% of your income in taxes? You need a new tax preparer. May I offer my services?

Selling a House: The tax only applies if you have a gain on the sale that exceeds the exclusion for your filing status. Mind you, that applies against the gain or profit on the sales not the selling price of the house. The exclusion is $500,000 for filing status MFJ and $250,000 for all other filing status. So for the tax to apply you have to have a taxable gain in excess of your exclusion and then your AGI also has to exceed $250,00 and then the gain amount that is over $250,000 AGI is taxed at 3.8%.

Any type of windfall: Depends on the windfall. If it is not already taxed this 3.8% won't apply. For example life insurance proceeds aren't generally taxed so no 3.8% tax. Inherited property when sold would have the tax applied but again only if your AGI exceeds $250,000. Inherited property gets a setup in basis on the inherited date so generally a gain on sale may only occur after the property has been held for some time.
