...Rand Paul testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee Wednesday, arguing against mandatory minimum sentencing.  He said the war on drugs has disproportionately affected minorities to the point that fully one-third of African American males are prohibited from voting.  Imagine that, a Republican who wants MORE African Americans to vote!  He went so far as to cite an ACLU report.  That's heresy!

Sen. Paul deviated from his prepared statement to say:

"Imagine this, and I'm glad the President has such great compassion because he's admitted, like a lot of other individuals who are now elected to office, that at one time he made mistakes as a youth.  And I think - what a tragedy it would have been had he gone to prison.  What a tragedy it would have been if America wouldn't have gotten to see Barack Obama as a leader."

I'm sure Canadian-born Sen. Rafael Cruz has taken note of Paul's words and is already preparing an attack ad.

He never really had a chance.  Senator Paul is a side show within the GOP.

to social realities, truth and someone telling the truth shall never get elected to any offices of the land.

Being that said, Senator Rand Paul is correct in his statement. Ted Cruz is an idiot of the first degree.

That goes for both you and Rand Paul.

I don't really give a crap about the racial overtone of his comments, locking up our youth of any color for victimless crimes is a travesty IMO.

As for Obama, I think I will simply confine my comments to Rand Paul. I think everyone knows my opinion of Obama.

who your GOP pick would be?  I want to see Rand Paul and Hillary Clinton debate.  I have a feeling Rand doesn't stand a chance going against our fascist, imperialistic move of corporations owning everything and nations falling apart.

and not only has more baggage, but is even nuttier than his father.

The Dems should be drooling over the prospect of running against him in 2016, but the chances of him winning the nomination are even less than the chances of Laffy and me meeting for a "civil" drink at the top of the Stratosphere. Or the chances of ST C and BigBackstabber having a civil "anything". It's just not going to happen.

If she steps in.. Whether she wins the General Election depends on who GOP nominates.

If GOP resolves their own internal differences, and gets behind a real conservative candidate, GOP can take the White House..

Whenever GOP has nominated a lukewarm moderate such as Dole, McCain, Romney, they have lost, and lost in a landslide.. So I will be rooting for the most conservative candidate in the primaries...Don't know who it is going to be.. Probably NOT CHRISTIE..

You pointed out a good statistic that women vote more than men.. But you should also note that GOPers vote more than liberals. Exception was last two elections..  You cannot really ignore the race factor in last turnout.. Wonder how many minorities will turn out to vote for White woman...

destroying our fish and water.  I am sure whoever has the jobs solutions will get the GOP pick though.  Americans are tired of war, and average Americans haven't seen how war created jobs at home or helped anyone but the corporations and elitists.  And a few rich that had insider trading advantages on where to put there money....(Keystone Pipelines, Halliburton, etc)

Laffy, the 2nd part of what you said doesn't make sense.  "business should be able to ban black people if they want to"  I don't know what nonsense you are talking

...and the GOP knows this.

Minorities will turn out in droves, and vote for Hillary.

I never saw a "sorry no black men" policy on her website. ;)

But you know what I mean.. The reason why black voter turnout was soo high in last 2 elections was because of Obama being black.

We'll see. Its all speculative until she actually puts her name in the hat..

I know you guys are getting wet already thinking she is running and next and the first female POTUS. But lets wait and see...

why shouldn't businesses be allowed to discriminate for what ever reasons they see fit?

I find it hard that to believe a business would survive, if they practiced this unfair policy of discrimination.

so, why shouldn't businesses be allowed to fail, because they wanted to discriminate?

that the US is going to become mansions and shacks if the something is not done by these no good politicians that are all in the top 1% by the time they leave office.  They are all truly in bed together with the corporations and self-serving while we suffer.

Our mall is about closed down with only employee's cars.  All the stores are re-building new stores on the rich side of town.  Can you imagine the US with ghettos everywhere and the rich with their mansions and stores?   And the rest of us cleaning the riches toys and serving them

...and most businesses are corporations, so it's a very unlikely scenario.

I grew up in Indiana and there are a lot of racists there, particulary in a town by the name of Martinsville.  It's between Indy and Bloomington.  They are notorius for hating black people.

Let's say a black family is driving from Indy to Bloomington late one night and their car breaks down outside Martinsville.  In Libby-Land, all the tow truck drivers can tell them to go to hell.  So can all the hotels and restaurants.  And their businesses won't be boycotted because of it.

There are parts of the country where it would be applauded blacks.....or gays...or Jews....or Catholics weren't served.

Libbys also say, "A business should be able to hire and fire for any reason they want to."  Well, take a single mom working at a factory.  Only good paying job in a small town.  Manager calls her into his office and says, "If you don't suck my dick every day, you're fired."

She doesn't have the money to move.  In Libby-Land, she's SOL and has to get on her knees.

I was wondering why you focused so much on racism hate?  Have you been mistreated because you have a mixed grandchild or wife?  just wondering.  If so, I would like you to have a different perspective, the majority of people are trying to be more loving.

I have never been to Martinsville, although I have always wanted to see the nascar race.  I too grew up with racism in the south, but I didn't give my focus to that kind of hate.  I always knew it was wrong and I had a Baptist pastor that wouldn't allow blacks to a wedding or funeral.  The black children couldn't come to Bible school anymore after a young black child was accidentally dropped on his head, playing on the play ground.  His family sued.  I don't know, the whole town knew the racist pastor was wrong but still piled in every Sunday.  I just couldn't participate in the church thing after bible school days of making crafts and eating snacks.  Have a nice day. :

and those people you described in your last paragraph are not part of my reality.  I have probably average 250 friends on Facebook that I have crossed paths with in my life.  There is one racist guy that I had to delete.  And one racist black girl I had to delete.  I am so sorry their lives are so miserable.  And I tolerate Christians that believe differently than me and I accept diversity because my life has been diverse and real.  Gays, blacks, recovering addicts, weed smokers, bikers, have been a part of my life.  My only rule is that I don't tolerate hate and I avoid emotional vampires and all evil people with a sinister heart.

Peace.

is that I can only change myself.  According to my old childhood pastors beliefs, he will stand higher judgment for all souls that were lost because of his hatred and racism.  That's not my belief, but he will be judged by his very own beliefs.

Humanness can be very lonely if we are hyper-critical.  We will all be buried 6 feet under with the nothingness but the Love we experienced and left behind.   I don't have to be in church to know that the more someone is blessed by God, then the higher responsibility he has been given.  But it's really not up to me how our evolution works out.  My job is to fix me and accept the rest.  Acceptance is a hard one Laffy, but I surrender and try and fail, then surrender and try again for another perspective to understand.  I have very sick people in my family that won't me to play role of scapegoat or victim.  You just stop playing the part for others selfish needs.  I won't play the part of racist either, it just doesn't fit me.

Peace
