but she didn't compare a rape kit to an abortion. Laubenberg compared a rape kit to a dilation and curettage procedure. She is still wrong, but let us get the facts right. :-D

Do they have some special field of rocks where they turn turn em' over to find these hardliner pro-lifers? I know there are a number of pro life-capital punishment supporters on this board; but ding-bat ignorance and superstition born comments like those from several different and recent Bible-belt buckaroos does not paint you or your cause in a very flattering light.

What gets me is; Where did the Pro-lifers get the right to tell another human being what their reproductive rights are?

...the standard method of abortion when Jodie Laubenberg was in her child-bearing years, so that's what she was most likely referring to.

D&C has been replaced by vacuum aspiration for the most part but it is still being used for abortions.
D&C is still used for miscarriages - do you think that's what Laubenberg was talking about?

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing and that's just what you have - a little knowledge.

Their "right" is that it is "God's word and command"...just like evangelizing is. It makes even murder justified.

It's the same theory behind fanatical religions everywhere.

http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/healthlibrary/test_procedures/gynecology/dilation_and_curettage_d_and_c_92,P07772/

A dilation and curettage procedure, also called a D&C, is a surgical procedure in which the cervix (lower, narrow part of the uterus) is dilated (expanded) so that the uterine lining (endometrium) can be scraped with a curette (spoon-shaped instrument) to remove abnormal tissues. A suction D&C uses suction to remove uterine contents. This is sometimes called a dilation and evacuation (D&E).

Does that mean all D&C procedures result in an abortion?

Yes D&C is used for miscarriages (so the bill is aimed at late term abortions, most likely in the event of a miscarriage?) I also read were D&C is used in abortions which take place with in the first trimester. The bill in question bans abortions at 20 weeks...ain't that some shit?

a Woman would have to be pregnant, in order for an D&C procedure to be an abortion.

Even if a rape kit involved the use of a curette, a woman would have to already be pregnant, for an abortion to occur.

I will admit my logic is lose, as that huffpo headline...Politifact  never used the word "abortion".
The HP story, was written from the politifact article

just so deceitful to just be giving what a majority of her constituency wants to believe. That's one mystery I have no need to delve into!   ;)
