Notice how states with Republican governors and/or legislatures want to make it more difficult to vote....

Republicans never worried about voter ID laws in the 1980's, when Republican candiates won 3 landslide elections that decade..

And the vote was 6-3 in the Indiana case. I think the lib was Breyer (not sure) who said asking for ID is not an undue burden to a potential voter.

Who would think it is???

but when it comes to common sense Voter ID laws, they scream foul.

Just another case of hypocrisy.

to do countless everyday things in our country, so it only makes sense that the same practice be used in an important thing like voting for our elected officials and leaders.

But the Dems are so scared of any improprieties -- as few and as inconsequential as they may be -- being discovered that they have overreacted to all of this and made this issue way bigger than it should be.

The Right has admitted these laws have nothing to do with "stopping fraud" (since there is virtually none of it) and it's all about suppressing minority votes.

It's also why they haven't just stopped at ID laws and pass all kinds of other BS laws targeted at people who vote Dem.

Well yeh, but let's face it, Laffy. How fucking hard is it to get an ID? I mean, really.

problem is, the devil is in the details.....Many of these GOP laws do far more than just require a photo ID....They significantly cut back or eliminated early voting (so called "souls to the polls" which is what alot of African American churches do, they bus church goers to the polling places after church service)...Some of these provisions won;t allow college students to use their student ID to vote....WTF!

There is hardly any cases of voter fraud, and when there is, its usually from absentee balloting, not in person fraud.....But since Republicans are big users of absentee ballots, they don't touch that at all...

These voter ID scams are nothing but ways to suppress the vote......Jim Crow laws of the 1960's may be gone, but its been replaced by Jim Crow ESQ, with exactly the same intent...

does anyone REALLY think proving who you are to vote is a bad thing?  How could any reasonable person be against it?

You need a picture id to drink, enter gubment buildings, cash a check, drive a car, buy a gun . . . .

Dems want to continue to cheat and stoop to their last line of defense (they use it when ALL other arguments fail), the ubiquitous claim of racism.

It doesn't work anymore guys, you need new material.

You put forth truth and facts backed up with reason and logic, and that just confuses and frustrates the shit out of the libs./lefties, and throws them into a dither.

Thank yo

But conservatives don't care about facts, they live in their fact free bubbles....

I just thought that this blog needed more balance.

it is a damn shame that libs on this board can't have reasonable discussions without automatically getting nasty.

The problem is that if libs were to cede the point that conservatives are a smart and well-meaning as they claim to be then their arguments would crumble, on pretty much all fronts.  Many of the more mature ones know that but are trapped by their belief in their failed ideology.

It really is sad.
